- South Burnaby| 3 repliesI got this phone call. Didn't pick it up the first time, and it rang forever. No Caller ID. I read this thread, and picked it up the second time, because I do have a Bell cellphone.
When I picked it up, there was about 30 seconds of dead air. Then a machine kicked in, and specified that it was Bell Mobility, calling about a very important matter to speak to the... "primary account administrator" (the pause was audible and it kicked to a different pre-recorded voice over for that part). It listed off a bunch of phone numbers, and wanted me to press "1" if I was the primary account administrator, or press "2" if I needed some time to go get them. Then it gave me a different phone number to call within 72 hours if I couldn't easily get ahold of the primary account administrator.
At that point I hung up. I suppose it could be legit, but it has all the earmarks of a SCAM. If Bell needed to get ahold of me, it wouldn't be asking sketchily for the primary account administrator, and requiring me to press 1 or 2 about it, nor would it give me a list of three phone numbers to call - nor a mailing address somewhere random in Ontario. *Headshake* - South Burnaby replies to South Burnaby| 1 replyI redact this post. After getting called multiple times a day for the last two days, I finally got fed up and dialed the *611 from my phone to get connected to customer service with Bell. Turns out it's legit - but frustrating, because I stand by my observation that it SOUNDED like a scam when I received the call originally. If it had struck me as legit, I would have gotten in contact with them ASAP to rectify the problem. Frustrating, frustrating. Bell - it might behoove you to have actual human people call customers for account issues, and maybe to have caller ID attached to your customer service number when you're calling Bell account holders. Just a thought.
- hali nsconfirmed real number from bell - i had recently set up a new CC for preauthorized payments online. I must of put the number in incorectly or something because i recieved this call then called the 611 number and confirmed my account did in deed owe money on it.
I updated my cc on file over the phone and all is good now- Call type: Debt collector
