These are REAL calls from COMENITY BANK.  They call as a courtesy regarding past due balances.  They provide BRANDED credit cards to businesses.  An example is Pier I Imports.  Confusing as if you have, say, a Pier 1 Imports credit card, you know you have a Pier 1 card, but usually are not aware and thinking that it is really a Comenity Bank Credit Card.  If concerned about the validity of ANY call, but believe you know the card or account in question, simply call the number on the back of the card, and let them know you received a call, and ask if it was real, and if so, what it was about.  IGNORING a real call could be detrimental to your credit and so while you should ALWAYS be cautious and careful about who you share your info with, you MUST do your DUE DILIGENCE and make sure that the call isn't real, before ignoring it.  Hope this helps.

This is not legit call. They appear to be scammers designed to scare people and in their anxiety call them back and provide their private information.  The message above is also a possible scam. Do not believe. Be careful. The one you save from these unscrupulous guys is yourself.

I just returned the call and yes the young lady answered Comenity Bank.  I stated to her I just received a call to return a call.  She ask my name I gave her my first name and stated I do not have an account with this bank and please removed my number from their data base.  She quickly became very angrily replied how do I know if I have an account with them or not.  I replied again very sternly, I would know whether or not I have an account with them or not and ask her not to call my number again and I hung up.

This is a real call as a courtesy that you have  a credit card with a past due balance.  Mine was a card through Bealls, a retail clothing store in Florida.

it is from Comenity bank which represents alot of companies that issue their own credit card...i looked them up online and found i had placed an order this past Christmas for my wife from Venus and used their own card instead of the usual way i pay...i was past due as i signed up for paperless and never saw the email.  i paid right away....your choice...look them up online to see the full list of credit cards for companies they represent...then when you find one you bought from within 90 days, go to the actual companies web page and i bet you find a credit card you forgot with a small balance on it...

It's not a scam call.  I didn't click submit when I went in to schedule a payment, and they were calling to let me know my payment was past due.

Phone number came up on my called ID as 720-456-3711, msg left had the 800# in it.  After seeing mention here of Comenity Bank, I remembered I hadn't paid my Eddie Bauer bill so I'm guessing that's what it was about.  Verified bill was overdue so just paid it.

I got a call from them as well.  I don't have an account with this bank.  The first thing they asked me was my name, verify address and SSN.  I told them please send me something in the mail.  I don't give out any info over the phone until I know who I am talking too.

Commenity Bank backs many different company credit cards, such as Carson's credit cards as well as other department stores.

This is a very annoying caller. The lady is telling me I have an account with a department store. I never ever open department store credit.   I have had one bank for 25+ years so I know she is a fraud.   She will not tell anything without getting my social or my address. Scam caller!

Yes, mine was a legit call about a new branded card I got, and had forgotten about.  I signed up for paperless billing and didn't see the statement.  But -- if you are concerned, do what I did.  Thanks to the advice above, I realized I did have one new branded card.  Rather than call the number left on my voicemail, I called the  number on the back of the card and quickly sorted it out and paid online.  Phew!  I now really appreciate that call and since it was a new card and I'd never been late before, they kindly removed most of the late fee.
