- EWhat can we do to stop these annoying calls? Does anyone know? I will not answer this number, especially, because I too do not write checks and am not late on any payments! So annoying. Don't answer 800-780-4838!
- TeddyI get the same call. I have Do Not Call and it never seems to get any results.
I today, called Cox Communication and had "Selective Call Rejection" installed. No charge with Cox. You list the number calling you and it will not accept any calls but rather states to the caller "Not accepting any calls at this time". When they call it is blocked and it does not ring, but rather they get the message above. You can add up to 31 numbers with Cox.
So check with your telephone company to see if you can get "Selective
Call Rejection". If not type that into your search engine you it will bring up companies that you can get it from, for a small monthly fee.
Good luck. - fun_girlntxJust received a call from this number & all they said was is "is this so&so?" I asked who they were & she told me Certegy & then she asked me again my name. I asked her why & the phone hung up! From the previous post it really does sound like a scam. Oh...and how could it be about a collection especially about a check.....I don't even write checks!
- JefThey asked if I were William Hansen and I said no. It was not even close.
- AnnoymousThis is certery recovery services - they are a debt collection agency.
- Caller: Certery Recovery Services
- DF| 1 replyMy parents got a call from this number and alerted me. They claimed to be a collection agency, so my mother panicked. I returned the call it was answered on the first ring by a live person with an American accent.
This is a check processing service. They claimed I bounced a check at a retailer, and they provided enough information without me saying anything that I knew it was not a scam. They were wanting to know if they could resubmit the check for payment.
The phone call was less than 5 minutes and "Tony" was courteous and polite the whole time.
They called the phone number that is listed on my checks - so I'll have to go to the bank and have that changed the next time I order more. - Joey replies to DFThese guys use a phone bank of number trying to track down people to collect money for various businesses. They continue to call, sometime leaving msgs, sometime not. If you answer the phone some of these calls you have dead silence and once you've said hello about 3 or 4 times they pick up and answer you - they actually are smart repeat hello back to you thinking you are just doing the greeting to anoy them but thats not the case. I hear a open line no one responding, you would repeat the greeting - and when they repeat back gets me pissed. These people should be identifying them from the get go because there using my time.. The only positive thing I can say about them is if I had a business they would be the group to help collect the debt...thats all. Now as for the means as how they do it is if you live in say you live in town A & your last name is Smith they call ALL the Smiths' in Town A to track down the money - they dont care what name is associated with the number. If it's not, this should be a breach of the "do not call list" and they be fined up the who ha or they better have a damn good reason on selecting my number to collect someone else's debt.
- Chiefcalled me twice, left message, I returned call. the person said, oh, a wrong number???
sounds like this group needs investigation- Caller: CTRS Collection Agency
- Call type: Debt collector
