With midterm elections coming up, I assumed it was a political call or poll, but didn't answer.  Instructions to get on their  do-not-call list are at:

or just call 800-244-3247.  Tip: when instructed to "press 1 to be placed on their do-not-call list", wait for a short tone/beep, or it won't register the keypress, and you won't get any further options.

Unfortunately the FTC do-not-call list does not apply to non-profits, politicians, or anyone that you've transacted any business with in the last 18 months.  The loophole extends to "their agents", meaning the hundreds of for-profit companies that conduct surveys for them.

i got a call, didnt recognize the number so called back -- got a recording stating it is a political organization and I was able to opt out of future calls.

I've gotten several call from that number, and don't answer.

If the first question they ask you is if you work for radio , television, newspaper, advertising, or market research tell them yes it will automatically term the survey and you are taken out of their data base also the do not call list doesn't apply to surveys

Notice how in the 5 pages of others complaining, the number of complaints picked up in September and October -- funny how those are election times.    3 - 4 times a day.  Thank goodness for call blocking!

American directions group is the WORST research survey company out there they will call you all day and night they don't care. The main boss is Walter Clinton his email address is wallyc@americandirections.com I've already sent an email everyone else should do the same! Harass them like they do us!!

That information does absolutely nothing toward getting these "robocalls" stopped!  A computer does the calling - probably thousands at a time - and usually only when someone answers does a live person come on trying to sell whatever - in this case, whatever the telemarketing firm is selling that day!  Most or many of these numbers are spoofed and they turn them on and off at will!
