This is a legit service called correctional billing service now known as securus technologies. You can call this number to set up a prepaid account so that you are able to talk to your loved ones that are incarcerated. You can also block your number from being called. It's kind of difficult getting a live person but you just have to keep pressing 2 to state that the info is incorrect you have to do this 3 times before the automated service will give up trying to understand the info your putting in and will then get you to a live person. I'm pretty sure it's not a scam. There are companies set up to assist prisoners in jails and prisons in the US to make calls to friends and loved ones. If you have a friend or family member locked up you can set up an account with one of these companies so your prisoner friend or family member can call you without paying for a collect call. It's quite a process setting up the account but I guess in some jails/prisons it's the only way a prisoner can call out. I know a guy in a Wisconsin Prison and I set up an account for him but I canceled it two hours later when I found out they charge an extra $2.00 a month for cell phones on the account. That part seems like a scam, but overall it's a legitimate business. Hope this helps.

I've been getting these as well. I wish there was a way to let "Darryl", whomever the hell he is, that he is calling the wrong number.

Despite the block feature I am still a bit leery of it being a scam.

I'm a physician and don't know anyone in the correctional system. I looked up their website at: http://www.securustech.net/contactus.asp   and use the 'CHAT' button. Wait for the attendant to come on and tell her you want all calls blocked to your phone. It's a lot faster than waiting on the line for these idiots to answer.

ANNOYING continuous calls from the Marion County Inmate Prisoner System robot asking me to accept a collect call. I don't know ANYONE in jail, and don't know why the inmates are calling my number, but the calls are often, and annoying.

lol no its not. a person may have tried scamming you but the company Correctional Billin Services is completely legit it's the largest inmate phone company in the country and I've had an account there for almost 3 years. I've even recieved refunds from them.

This company will NOT close or cancel your account without a written notarized form showing that a new person owns the number...

Please remove or block my telephone # from your system. It's very frustrating to received 5-6 calls a day when I do not know anyone in a correctional facility. I am beginning to think this is a SCAM or the company Securitastech.com would make it easier to block unnecessary calls. I'm being baggered by this company at this point and they have a responsibility not to bother the public.  They need to do a better job monitoring the calls.

I have received 6 of these calls today in the last 2 and a half hours. I am freaking sick of this. Don't know anyone in jail and frankly if I did I would not want them calling me. Not like I am going to put money or anything on some jailbirds account. How do I know this, because I keep receiving calls from this number and wanted to see who the heck it was. Looked the number up online and it says 'securus' so I looked them up and that is what they do.
