I received this exact message on my phone too. Too bad for their wasted time as (Thank God and good investments)  I have no debts and the highest of credit scores. I am on every do not call list I can find...I just do not understand how we can be harrassed over and over on our telephones. That's why all my friends and family know that I never answer my phone unless I recognize the number. If more of us would do that, these people would be out of buisiness.

These people are trying to collect a debt from us for someone that lives on the other end of the state. Looked them up to see who it was.

I have a small business that uses a toll free virtual office from LoudestVoiceSystem.  Well that company started offering local numbers - we signed up and updated our phone numbers with the credit cards.  So when they call, they have to go thru this auto-attendant.  We can push the call to voicemail, but we have the phone number.

This website came up.  The virtual office has a weblink that you can add phone numbers to.  So when Portfolio Recovery Associates, Inc calls from 800-860-0644, they cannot get thru - they get a recorded message that says "We're sorry your call cannot be completed at this time.  Please check the number and try again."

Several calls from that number in Iowa.  Today was first message that they left which was threatening.  Am contacting the Iowa Attorney General about these jerks.

How do you block an area code and prefix from your phone?  I get PortfolioRecovery Associates almost daily, and never pick up the phone when I see them on my caller I.D.

I found a message on my phone from a person claiming to belong to Portfolio Recovery Associates regarding an outstanding debt. Please note that the caller did not use any name about who owed the "debt". I called the number and the "representative" claimed she would not be able to link the "debt" via a name & phone number but needed my social security number. I told her I was not an idiot and DO NOT call my number again. My politeness surprised me given the fact this was such an obvious scam.

portfolio recovery are  bunch of scam artists refusing to stop calling me even though I don't owe anything to them or their clients. is there a way to sue blood suckers and take them to the cleaners??

Who they hell do these people think they are!? I am 19 and they said they are trying to collect a debt that was from when i was 10 years old! I have filled a complaint with the FTC and FCC!

Another bunch of Scammers - Beware

They repeatedly call and I owe no debts.  I have told them to stop calling this number but they won't.

I was called 9:46 am this morning from this number and the woman did not give her name but said she was a police officer and said I owed money on debts! I asked what debts but she said she had to finish telling me everything before she could tell me what debts! I told her this was a SCAM! Of course she disagreed! Finally she said it was from 2 different companies I have NEVER had accounts with! I laughed and told her it was definitely a scam and I would be reporting her call to authorities, FTC and all other agencies...she hung up on me then!

Police do not collect debts.
