- who are these people? Telemarketers? Debt Collectors?

Person is looking for Kimberley Kohler. No such person here. My wife and I have no children and my wifes name is Sandra.

Call like above automated call, call back leaves 8009735402, caller id comes up with a number out Chicago 314-2591240.  i have left several messages, still no return call from them. Am calling the chicago number today and see what happens

Capitol One accounts...they ARE bill collectors. I called and spoke them and then called the dr they were calling for. Turns out they were right. I had a bill that needed to be paid. Maybe you should call. They actually got an old collection account off my credit, though I still have nothing nice to say about bill collectors!

This [***]'s been calling pretty much every day for months - never answered figuring he'd give up.  Not yet - very persistant.

Same thing here in Texas.  Numerous calls from a "Chris Smith" who wont identify himself. Only a "very important matter I may not know that I'm involved in"  [***]!  No one here by the name he gave anyhow.

Chris Smith just called my house phone saying I had a very important matter that he'd rather not make any decisions before he talked to me I call him back on my cell phone, and all I got was music.

As the other folks have said a Chris Smith left a call back number of 800-973-5402 and that it was an important matter-asked for no one by name.  If it is a collection agency-I have no idea why they'd want me or my husband, since he didn't say who or what he wanted.  I called the number and it went directly to canned music.  Sounds bogus to me.  The caller id said unknown name and a different number 720-221-3820.

Chris Smith called me (I live in TX) and said it was a very important matter that I am directly involved in and that I may not know, but he did not want to make any decisions without speaking to me.  However he never said WHO he was looking for and he never said who he was with.  I'm not calling back.  If he knew my name, maybe.  That's why I did a search on the phone number, and found this.  Interesting.  Bogus I'd say.

I get calls from these BOZZOs EVERY DAY...  It's either Chris Smith (yeah, right!) or a female voice who identifies herself as Stacey Everett (yeah right again!) They can call 'til Hell Freezes Over, but I won't give them the satisfaction of answering them...  I wish they were operating from right down the street...  I guarantee they would NEVER disturb my privacy again...

Got this same call in cincinnnati. Chris Smith,  I'm on the no call list but can't think of any bills that are outstanding.  I'm with Bob these people better  hide, as soon as I can track the number I will look into legal action.. hehe..

Keep getting pre-recorded messages from this clown.  I call back and get rather nice music, though.  They never say who or what they want.  I found a company name and e-mailed them and told them never to call my # again or I'd contact the county attorney for prosecution.

I got the same call stating the same BS.

I got a call from this [***] Chris Smith. The message was that I'm "directly involved in a situation that [his] office has been appointed to handle." I spoke with my attorney and these calls likely violate the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Collection agents must identify themselves as collection agents when they leave messages like that. There are other reasons why the call could be illegal. Call a consumer protection attorney like I did and fight back.

Have received several calls from a Chris Smith at 800-973-5402.  Same spill everytime.  Only gives his name and number.  Never address who he is calling for or give a reference number like other collection companies do.  It has to be a scam of some kind.  I have unforunately have had to deal with collection companies and this Chris Smith is not following the guidelines that are set up for collections even with the new confidential information regulations.

I received a call and actually found out that my insurance did not cover the full amount of a doctor bill and that I owed some money to my doctor's office. I spoke with several people that work for the company (stacey edwards/greg williams/chris smith. I was able to work with them in setting up a payment plan and got it taken care of before the debt hit my credit. I think you guys should call them back and listen to what they have to say...you never know when you are going to want to finance something and you won't be able to because you thought a phone call was a scam...but whatever

"Chris Smith" is an imaginary figure at CAPITAL ACCOUNTS. His REAL NAME is Wesley Schutts. You see, these con men are the first tio accuse ANYONE they call about being liars, thieves, etc. However, ALL of their calls to people are based on lies that they themselves perpetrate. Example(s): They ALWAYS cloak their phone number. The messages they leave are deceptive. The people they claim they are, don't exist at their septic tank that they call a business, i.e. "Chris Smith." Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these con men, liars and thieves. Record any of their live calls whenever legal. Report them to the FTC and your state Attorney General. If enough people did that, they would get shut down eventually and people like Wesley Schutts would be sent off to prison where they belong!

I received a call and he was so rude.  .  Hesaid that he wanted to be for an outstanding bill from a doctor visit. I said I would have to check to see if it was paid. He told me that I had to pay it! I told him I was not paying anything until I checked to see if I already paid it.He was insistant.I told him if I owed the doctor I would pay the doctor directly .  He said a few nasty words to me, I told him not to call my house again.  He said he would call whenever he wanted to.

Same M.O. as others have stated here.  "Chris Smith" calls and in a menacing voice, says I am involved in some important matter and I need to call back before he acts on "something".  He doesn't say what or why, or even what company he is with, sounds really shady.

It is likely a bill collector as others have stated, as I recently came into medical debt I simply cannot afford(Time for bankruptcy). This call however does not follow the practice of stating that they are bill collectors

Same thing - Stacy Edwards keeps calling. They only say it's important to call back. Today, they said "I'm getting a little concerned that I can't get a hold of you and need to talk to you". Nice try. I do have a debt with Capitol One but am in a debt management program so they shouldn't be calling me since I'm up to date. I also have a medical bill that I need to pay, but I already told 5 different people that I'm in a debt management program and that when my debts are paid off in 5 years, I'll be happy to put them on the list. My husband died and had no insurance and I got stuck with all his bills, a mortgage, cars, raising a child, etc. I'm doing ok on my own, but it's tough. They could care less about my situation though. I can only do what I can do. They threaten that this will hurt my credit. Well, I'm in debt management. I already own my home and have a vehicle and once I pay off all my credit, I plan to never be in debt to another creditor again. Cash only from now on. That's the best way to live. So they can do what they will to my credit. I have what I want and they can't take that away over a measly little medical bill.
