We've been getting these calls for about 2 weeks. The caller says nothing and hangs up after a few seconds. I can't even leave my phone off the hook because we have kids and also both have elderly parents who may try to get through.

It's gettnig ridiculous.

1-801-758-0647 this number calls 5/6 times a days and it's from Salt Lake City UT from a Correctional Facility with an automated number. Do Not press any buttons you will be charged. The 1800 number they give you to call to stop the call is a part of the scam as well. Do not call it. They are using your number to link to to make long distance calls.

I have gotten almost 15 calls  to me cell phone.  In the adjacent post, 'Jewels' mentions that if you press any buttons, or you will be charged.  I'm wondering how much this charge is if one pushes buttons up until when the voice asks 'if this is the authorized account holder?'

it is GTL's automated system for adding you to an inmates calling list. it's NOT a scam, and if you don't respond by pressing any buttons nothing happens! no worries at all.

They called asking for my hubby by name. They said we won a prize and did we want to hear about it. That we clicked on their internet site and that most people don't realize it. Sounds like a scam. My hubby is on some list. He has gotten a scam letter in the past.

.The calls I get from this number are from "Global Tel Link automated operator." They basically threaten you with 3 calls a day for five days (but don't stop at five days) unless you follow some menu options. I've read that they will ask for account information or "hijack" your call or something bad, kind of like phone spam or "phishing." Either way, I called Verizon and they blocked the number. I had gotten 15 calls per week for 3 weeks, but it shouldn't happen again! :)

First off merry christmas I got a call from 1 801-758-0647 I didnt bother to answer it because its on my cell and Im low on minutes I didnt recognized the area code so Id figure they would leave a holiday message..

I have a friend in Prison in Ohio who does have my number so maybe it was them now I will never know unless they call back

If anyone knows how to report the abuse of multiple calls coming from these prisons and how to put a stop to them please inform us all.

This number has called me several times and no one was there. They just hang up. I did a reverse look up and it said it was to a U-haul in Utah.

this phone number has been calling my boyfriends phone for days... we do know some people that in Ohio's Lorain prison... can anyone confirm this?? they wont stop!! anyone have the number to make it stop or figure out whos trying to reach us?

Same thing as others.  They call and I answer and it hangs up.  No message or any prompts.  Call back and you get a recorded msg from GTL.  I don't know anyone in prison that I know of.

I don't want this kind of a call just stop who ever you are can't tell who you are don't call me NO MORE!!!!!! got it?

Why am I getting calls from this number and who is it?

Got this call on my Tracfone. Didn't answer because I didn't know who was calling from 801 area code.

We keep getting calls from the number too.  I think it is my stepson trying to call
but I don't think our'   phone service will accept the charges.  What can I do
so that he can call home?

Try contacting the Better Business Bearu in your area... if you get a chance to talk to a person when it calls back, tell them this, more than likely the calls will stop.  No business including idiots want to be reported to the BBB because they are REQUIRED to respond to the BBB as well as the BBB is REQUIRED to contac you back.  You can also contact the FCC, there are rules and regs these business have to follow, sounds like no matter who it is, they aren't.

We use GTL and have never ever had a problem with them.

Go to Conscallhome.com and have them set you up with a local number where your inmate is located.  The inmate calls the local number that in turn calls your home number.

Picked up and no one was there. Always hangs up on answering machine.
