- DJCalled and would not tell me whom they were with, reason for calling nothing. They said I would have to verify some information by giving out my personal information. A reputable business will tell you the name of their company as well as the reason they are calling you. If they will not, then try to get their name. Document the phone number, try google and obtain an address, time and date. File a claim with your State Attorney General Office. They will send you a case number. If you can find an address, the Attorney General Office will send them notification of your complaint. This will stop them from harassing you.

- Tip replies to Sees It RealYou can block ANY number from coming into your phone. Maybe you mean you can't block your number (by dialing *67) when calling a toll-free number. Area code 803 is not a toll-free number.
- dunknown and unwanted calls . no vmails
- bluescorer replies to Just giving InfoAmcol Systems, a debt collector for medical services. They call here because my son gave the hospital my number. They just call whatever number the patient last gave the doctors.
- Jen replies to Sees It RealYou can block any number. The problem is most debt collection agencies have auto dialers and multiple lines. You can block one and another will call. I get these calls non-stop even though I don't owe anyone anything. Like previously mentioned, they won't give you any information unless you verify address and date of birth or other info. I was a bill collector (Many years ago) and I understand that HIIPA and FDCPA apply, but they should never ask you to give sensitive information over the phone. This is NOT a reputable company.
- LesaAsked me to verify personal information, sounded awfully suspect to me, & when I asked for a legitimate person/phone #, with whom I could confer...they got snippy & hung up on me.

- Joann| 2 repliesYep, this number is a debt collections agency. You really need to answer the calls to get them to stop. I'm getting calls now, but for some person I don't know if, who has not had my number in over 18 years so has seemingly given a fake number that is my good cell phone number, but this person they always ask for buy the name of Erin or Aaron Benavides, is unknown to me. It stinks because there isn't anything I can do answer these calls and let the callers know. However, as annoying as it is to have to go through any of this, it still irks me how the debt collectors are so used to dealing with bottom feeding scum, they seem to have lost sight that not all of us are murky water bottom feeders, so there is no need to be so curt and off-putting with us. Just maddening because the debt collectors don't know to whom they're actually speaking with, and that's clearly why they act the way they do. So pizzoff to you scumbags skippers who create this unwanted stuff onto innocent people. Own your messes or stop making them, dimwits!

- Joann replies to JoannEh, sorry for my typo's.
- Joann replies to JoannOh, yeah... some person said these collection agencies are scammers because they always change their phone numbers. Yeah, I doubt that one. They likely have numerous numbers to call from for a lot of reasons having to do with you scumbags who skip out on your bills and make up your own reasons why you shouldn't have to pay your bills that you created. Just use common sense.
- DebThese people called my moms cell phone. My mother is NO debt. My mother and father have exemplary credit ratings. This is a scam deluxe. Don’t bite. Scum

- AggravatedCalled me asking for me to verify my DOB and or my address without telling me what it is for. If this were serious and or if they were really a collection agency that was legitimate, they would tell you who and or why they were calling after you verify your name.

Okay guys, these people are debt collectors. If they call, they should ask for a specific person. If you are not that person then say so. This is what I did. I do happen to know the person that they were asking for, and I feel certain that person put me down as a contact.
If you don't know the person, then tell them so! The problem is that a lot of people try to dodge their bills by giving fake phone numbers, or one that is just a few digits different than their real ones so that they won't have collectors coming after them. It can sometimes happen that it's a legit phone number just not the person who owes the money, and that's how they get your phone number.
If you do know the person who the debt is for, you can tell them that the person they are trying to reach is not available at the number they are calling. You can choose to say that you don't know how to get ahold of them, or you can give them that person's actual phone number.
For the record, if they ask you to start verifying info, you can refuse. You can state that you are that person, and if they would like to read off the info and you can verify it that way, instead of you telling them. Honestly I'd just tell them to send any attempts to collect debt to your address. However, this means you have to give/verify the address.- Caller: Amcol Systems
