They texted me saying they were helping find apprenticeships

got a random text from these scamming [***] saying they could help me out with a aprenticeship YEAH HELL RIGHT THEY CAN JOG ON!

I've just got one too. Coincidentally I had been looking for apprenticeships a few months before, but have no idea how these guys got my mobile number.

I /just/ received a message from them about apprenticeships at Jaguar Land Rover. No idea where they have gotten my number from as I'm not even interested in apprenticeships.

This scam number 81222 charging me through my mobile phone company, I have no idea who the hell are they, they are definitely thieves hacking into people mobile phones and, charging us behind our back.
Go to hell you greedy [***].

I switched from my Orange Pay Monthly to PayasyouGo and topped up £10.  I made no calls on my ifone just a few texts, and then find all my credit has disappeared down to 95p.  I looked at my account on line and there was a call from 81222 which I know nothing about plus multiple texts GPRS  ap-prepaidsessio which were charged for.  I know nothing about these.  I am really fed up with Orange now, but to call them to complain you are charged and I do not want to top up my phone and have it disappear again.

***** If this "service" has been operating since July 2011 and PhonepayPlus have failed to  obtain the full relevant information in the intervening years, it strikes me that, as a service from OFCOM, Phonepayplus is staffed by an idle lot and, like the rest of that organisation, diminish even further their own credibility as "Regulators".

I have been charged for an incomming call from 81222 I have no idea what the call is about or what I am paying for. I do not use any services other than making personal calls so how can someone get my information. I feel I have signed a blank cheque to my service provider.

read post immediately before yours; also, text "STOP ALL" back to sender that should prevent further unwanted texts &/or speak to your mobile provider

got an offer to help with apprenticeships but how they got my number is beyond me this phone and number are new i have yet to give it to most of my family and friends yet

The number may be new to you, but it is quite possible that it has been recycled.    That might be the reason why the previous user let it go.    Time will tell.     Equally they may not have "your" number at all, but just set their computer system to send out messages to one number after the next.       ICO are expected to have stuff in the news today about that way of doing it and the quarter of a million pound fines they are applying for it.        In other words====== make sure you report all such calls to them.

I had a text which looked genuine from Barclaycard and when I texted back then I got charged

Spurious premium rate text came in from 81222 costing me 10p.  I'm reluctant to text them back to stop another for two reasons. First it tells them that their number scanner has found a legit number and may make them try again multiple times. Secondly it most likely would be a premium return call costing £5. The authorities should track down these scumbags and see how they like buying phone cards from inside HMP.

Am on EE pay monthly.  just upgraded phone to Galaxy S6 in shop...  maybe the EE phone shop, Bath, UK is where my long-term number was disclosed to their computer system and hackers (who may have paid some Big Wig millions of quidz for all our Mobile Nbrs) have been notified that I am active on the Network and wanna now try scr*w me for money!!

Received text from 8122 at 1106 9th Dec 2016.  no content. knew it cld be SPAM/virus. so added it to my Blocked text List on the Phone and deleted it. will use my EE App to check 'additional charges' today/tomorrow after it updates but no charge for the incoming SPAM text so far, after 10 minz.

yes... ive just been charged 8pence with VAT on top i.e. 10p to RECEIVE a text. but I stopped it now...see above.

I have a a charge on my mobile bill for this number. I'd like to report this short code because I am not sure who they are. I had a weird text on my phone at the time that came up as a dark grey alert on my iPhone. Apple show it like this to display some sort of scam which appears to be this short code claiming money from a large amount of people at small amounts. I know about this because I used to work for a text message company and left shortly after finding out they occasionally pulled stunts like this when they were having a bad month.

Unsolicited text Message said it was from Avon. Text BYESTOP TO 81222 to opt out
