Some american dude keeps calling my number and leaving messages for his "brother"... while admitting he doesn't recognize the voice on my voicemail. Nice try diddy. It could very well be accidental but who calls another country without realizing? He doesn't sound old enough to have dementia. So like I said it could be a legitimate accident but it's too convenient. Like I said he says oh I don't know that voice but never once stopped to think he dialed the wrong number? If you do a search for the number it gives you New Jersey but with no name or anything. However a name shows up on call screen... and if you Google that name you get a really famous climate scientist and believe me the guy that's calling me is no climate scientist. I think it's testing out the number. I think it's someone trying to find out whether there's actually a person at the other end of this line and if that person will fall for scams. I could just be jaded but I'd rather be jaded in this case

Your hypothesis may be correct but it may go beyond that.  It could be an attempt to lure you into a "friendly" conversation in order to scam you.  Although text messaging is the more common form of these "wrong number" scams, scammers are getting more elaborate and bold, often making direct contact.  You are smart to avoid any contact.  Block the number and ignore.  If he's a scammer, you've beat him and if he's just intellectually challenged, you've taught him something.  Good job.  Cheers.
