It's the Social Security Administration - it's not spam or a telemarketer

the caller said that they are social security. they ask me if i filed a workmens comp claim . i said no. the women said ok thats it thats all they needed.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone. I answered the call. The caller said they were from SSA and needed to verify information that had been submitted. Without thinking, I went over the information with them. They called because of a discrepancy in my work history. We verified the information. I wasn't even thinking about it being a Saturday. I googled the number and I saw everything about this being a scam. I received a copy of the paperwork today which they said I would be receiving to retain for my records. This number is from the Workload Support Unit, Social Security Administration, Mid-America Program Service Center, PO Box 15368, Kansas City, MO 64106. "Tolerances allow for slight variations that do not affect the outcome of the subsidy level determination. In the verification process, the field office (FO) or Workload Support Unit (WSU) contacts the applicant to resolve the discrepancies between the application data and the agency data. * Make two attempts to contact the applicant by telephone at different times of the day to increase the chances for making contact. This is in fact the SSI calling... I confirmed this with the local SSI office here in Salina, KS..

Called but left no voice mail message.   Since other indicate it is the Social Security Administration calling and my spouse will retire in several months, I'll answer the next telephone call.

Just be careful - scammers do spoof actual SS numbers. The danger is less if you call back on a number you know is good and relates to any active case you may have.

Ligit social security office. Called to get info to process my claim. Confirmed info from my hearing.  Next day my ssdi online account was updated with info she told me.
