- BC ResidentI just got a call to my mobile-phone from this number.
Caller-ID showed "TELUS".
While still connected, I used my land-line to call the number, and got connected to the _actual_ TELUS.
But, I'm thinking that the person who called me was spoofing their Caller-ID to appear to show the "TELUS" name and the TELUS phone-number.
His call started-out to be very spotty -- dropping 2/3 of his words.
If that's the voice-quality of Telus Optik service, I do not want it.
In the background was a lot of chatter & noise.
When I asked, he said that he was in an office, and that there was a birthday-party going on. Really? In an office?
He offered me discounted prices: $65/month for 1 Gbps symmetric (both download & upload) Internet, and $68/month for TV, and $13/month for a land-line. He said that PST & GST would add 15% -- which is incorrect, because it is 12% (7% GST & 5% PST) in British Columbia.
He promised "no lag", and "no dropped" packets while gaming. That's impossible to achieve, given that many gaming-servers are in California or Nevada or near to Chicago, and there are dropped packets between here & those servers.
On his calculator, he added $65 to $68, and said $138, instead of the correct $133. Bad math/calculator skills! Who cannot add two 2-digit numbers without needing a calculator??? The sum of 5 and 8 cannot end with 8.
He "checked" my home address, and said that I am eligible for Telus Optik service. I knew that, because my nephew, in my basement suite, already has it.
He did not get to the part where he claims that Shaw is a "shared" network, while Telus is not a "shared" network. Both companies have "concentrator" boxes at the end of my street, where the "sharing" occurs.
After about 20 minutes of him inventing numbers, I said "gotta go & pickup my son from his hockey game", and ended the call.- Caller: Unlikely to be TELUS
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Bijou replies to NadiaIt’s scammer.
- Angry| 2 replies4th call with inaccurate info regarding old Telus account. Telus is either hiring the most ignorant insulting inept company to solicit or they have had a data breach of some information and this is a Scam. I have now blocked the number. And Telus is inept for not stopping or advising public of this rude intrusion. If this is real Telemarketing everyone run in the opposite direction from TELUS.

- jon replies to bobi called the #... it is Telus.ca
- jon replies to Angry| 1 replyi'm with Shaw... how can i block this #
- Pudge replies to jonCall back does indeed get Telus along with all the "All calls to telus are recorded, press 1 for English then in French, press 2 for French, then enter your 10 digit phone number to get to your account." Given the conflicting information on the thread, it's probably best not to trust calls from the number as it appears it is being spoofed by scammers. The Telus Forum has information:

As for blocking, check with your carrier to see if they have blocking service or you may want to download a call blocking app. If you're using a land line there are several stand alone call blockers for land lines. Good luck. Thanks for posting - BC ResidentThe Caller Keeps Calling Every Are Day I Don't Answer But Sure Is Scam
