Last couple of times I have renewed my contract with O2, I start getting messages from this number charging me around £1 per message.  I DO NOT sign up to anything!  Have NOT done any surveys!  So this is unsolicited scam.  Rang O2 and they were absolutely useless saying they could not do anything!  Apparently it is legal.  O2 just hid behind their Terms and Conditions to say I have to keep on paying these charges!  When I reminded them that they have put a stop to this nonsense twice previously, O2 just said they cannot do it.  They agreed they have thousands of complaints about this but still will not do anything!  Amazingly, my wife on Tesco Mobile (which uses O2) managed to get Tesco to refund the money and put a stop to the messages!  However O2 refuses to do so.  Why would they when they get a cut of the pot/scam.  Shameful...

84222 is handled by a company called imi mobiles, they handle the numbers for about 50 different companies who utilize 84222. I have tracked down their contact details: tel: 01494750500 email: customerservices@winplc.com.
I spoke to a guy there and he punched my number into his system and within seconds he gave me the company who was taking money from my phone account. He also gave me their telephone number, which I rang. I spoke to a young lady, who said she would check it out and refund my money. I wait in anticipation. May I suggest, as well as phoning bombard them with emails and harass them.

I have nothing to do with these kinds of messages, so don't understand why TalkTalk has charged me for just receiving such a text.

I don't usually bother to check the details of my mobile phone bill. But, prompted by my much better organised wife - I just have. She was right - my bill was being inflated every month thanks to my receiving unsolicited and useless texts from 84222 (Moblix Media). I took the advice offered on this website by 'gasman' and a very helpful person called Carl on tel: 01494750500 said he would cancel the 'service' today. Well done gasman for sorting this issue out.
    Regards,
    Graham

84222 is the number for freeb.me it charges max £2 per month for the vouchers to be sent.  I never agreed either and just noticed these charges must have been added to my account for months.  It's not free if you have to pay other charges. Bloody scams!!!

Moblix Media have been sending texts to me it seems for 2 years - I'm with O2. £45 quid lighter as a result. I've written to Moblix - turns out they are on their summer break until 25 September. The were fined £100K last March and ordered to clean up their act apparently for sending texts out to 30000 consumers without being able to demonstrate robustly that the individuals actually and transparently signed up. The husband and wife team who head the outfit up re doing pretty well for themselves - at least the husband who's just spent £200K setting up a new office for the IT company he's me of. Suggest we all lodge complaints with PhonepayPlus who Ofcom have authorised to regulate the sector. Also the OFT should look at this in light of changes in Consumer Contract Regulations and transparency. In terms of the mobile network providers I wonder if they ought to have more robust due diligence in place in respect of firms they offer premium short code services to - I'd like to see Ofcom ask O2 for instance why they continued to provide a facility to Moblix after it was demonstrated that they'd been at least incompetent - and apparently have not learned from thier previous reprimand.

Have gone to PrePayPlus regarding this,
Been given conflicting information by these & EE. Not bothered about what I've been charged it's the principle that someone has tried to rip me off. Will make sure it's the most expensive few quid these have ever had.

I keep getting this number and I know nothing about it. It comes to my bill but not my phone. I sent a stop text but it still comes to to my bill. I think this is returned as saying that I'm not sent any quizzes

Here is a suggestion (wondering why you didn't think of it since it would have been the logical thing to do), ask you phone carrier.

Absolute joke this! Have spoken with the company that manage the 84222 premium number and they agreed to take me off the list I have never put myself on in the first place and was told I would not receive any future premium rate sms - 1 hour later after speaking with them I received a premium rate txt!!! Total year to date £70 that has been fraudulently stolen from me via my contract bill from Vodafone - next step is Vodaphone tomorrow and if they cannot fix this my contract will be ending and moving providers as I am up for renewal in 7 days.
This is a daylight scam that should not happen in this day and age from this number and dates back over 10 years - why are the big companies still letting this number trade?? It could surely be removed or blocked for good..... But I am sure that the phone companies must be getting a percentage from this otherwise it would have been stopped by now !
