Yesterday I received a call from "JP" who said I had attended the Bridal Show on Sunday and won a couple prizes.  When I called back "he" was very vague about what company I had won it from.  I told him if this was a timeshare presentation meaning a bait and switch my fiance would be VERY angry.  He said my fiance must attend and we would get 3 days 2 nights vacation package AND the 1,000 grocery coupon.
He told me we must attend this Friday at the Courtyard Marriott in Dearborn, MI or we wouldn't get the prizes until they came around again.
So I called the Courtyard and the only thing they have scheduled for Friday night is a church function.
So now I get to call them back and give them a piece of MY mind while reporting them above and to the BBB oh and how about we all call our local TV stations, radio stations and the sponsor of the bridal show so they can actually screen who they let in to be a sponsor/vendor.  How about looking at our safety vs their bottom line?????

I would not call this a scam, as much as a cheap marketing trick.

They call you to get you to go to a sales pitch.  This company sell cookware and china.  Newly Weds are generally people looking for this stuff.

Anyway you listen to their sales pitch and they give you a coupon for two nights in one of their partner hotels.  You can only use them between Sunday and Wednesday and not only holidays, conventions, and pre-booked days.
Also airfare is not included.  When they say you get $1000 for groceries, it is in the form of coupons like you get in the newpaper, not a gift certificate.

So really, they are not lying, but it not as good as they make it seem.

All of this info is on their web-site if you dig for it.

My Fiance and I got engaged in December of 2007.  However, I just recently started looking at things for weddings.  The only information I have given out, however, was to David's Bridal in order to do the "Create Your Own Wedding."  When I filled out the online information, I selected not to be called by a David's Bridal representative. Since then, I have been called multiple times by David's Bridal reps, have been solicited with tons of wedding email that is all junk, and have received a phone call from 845-782-6759. A woman left a voicemail saying that we were eligible to win some sort of gift/prize and to call back.  I deleted the vmail not thinking anymore of it.  I was going through my phone tonight and googled the number. This is the site I found.  Thank you to everyone who has posted on here!

I attended 1 bridal show 6 months ago  and since have received phone calls at my office winning contests that I didn't enter.  I've won Mary Kaye, Avon, laser treatments, money off of DJ services and most recently a trip from Jeanetta at 21st Century RP Brides.

    Lucky I didn't win!
Ok so I got a phone call today on my cell phone from 631-470-7339 telling me that I was selected winner through a drawing in California for a trip for me and my fiance. Great! I never win anything! So she asked me if I had a pen and a piece of paper and I told her no and that I was driving. She said she could leave a message and that I could promptly get back to her. "Lucy" left a voice mail asking for me to return her call at 631-271-2025 ext 6706. I was thinking ok.... I could use a cruise right now...

I told my mom about me winning and she replied "Hunny, you aren't that lucky"- thanks mom. So I decided this whole thing was suspicious because I don't even win when my fiance and I put money into the Christmas Party drawing for his work. Not even a dvd! And thats only 100 people, compared to the whole state of California! So when I got back home I typed in 21 century rp brides and all these horror stories popped up. Like many others who have posted, I think it is DAVIDS BRIDAL because that is the only website I signed up for. I never called "Lucy" back but I am scared that somehow someway they can ruin your credit. These people need to be stopped!

I just went to a Bridal Show on Saturday and I was extremely excited to receive a call that I had won a prize but I did not recognize the name RT Bridal from the expo. The number was also from New York which made me extremely wary. The number on the ID was different from the one that I was told to call back. When I called back I was told that the woman who had called, Lynn, was on another call. She called back and left a message that told me if she missed my call she would call back in a minute or two. Glad that I found the number on here. Don't answer calls from New York if you don't know anyone from there, I've been contacted from three different numbers in just an hour.

I just received a message with the exact same wording as the post listed above only mine was from the other phone number listed - the 631-470-5959.  I didn't call back - just jumped online to research.  Glad I didn't even waste time calling them back.

I just recieved this call too.  I spoke to my fiance and he said I should call the number to find out what it is all about. I spoke to the nice woman for a  few minutes and she said I would have to go to Howard Johnson Hotel in Newark, Delaware for a presentation and afterwards I would get my free gifts just for attending.  I actually thought about going.  $1000 in grocery coupons sounded good to me.  But too good to be true!!!   I called my mom and she said to go online to investigate and found this site.  So glad we did.  The number that called me in Delaware was 631-470-7339. Unbelievable

I had a message today. I called back because I had just entered a bunch of raffles at a local bridal expo. I was told I would get a 2night, 3day vacation package and $1000 in grocery coupons. I googled and boy have i read some horror stories. I won't be attending my 90minute meeting. I also called my local news, hopefully they will pick up the story to warn others. Keep posting girls! And Happy Wedding Planning! (PS. it seems to be a theme that people are contacted shortly after visiting David's Bridal)

When I got the message I had won a vacation I was so excited. I called back the number and they said I had won a 2 night, 3 day vacation and $1000 in grocery coupons. They said I had to attend a hour and 15 minute meeting on cooking wear and this was just their way of advetising, there was no obliagation to buy and I would recieve my prizes the same day. I set up the appointment at a Marriot, but was told someone would call me in the mornig to tell me what conference room it would be in. I thought this was wierd, like they didn't even have the room set yet. I also thought it was wierd because I didn't recognize RP Brides as a local company. I googled it and they do have a website. It shows all the cooking wear and there is a page all about the bridal prize package. There are also a ton of websites about how this is a scam. I read stories about a girl who didn't even go to the meeting and a year later had a colleciton agency calling her about a bill of over $700, some people went to the meeting and were pressured into buying $2-3000 in healthy pots and pans so thier family wouldn't get Alzhiemer's and they never even got thier trip. Others attended the meeting and didn't buy anything, but did pay a deposit on thier trip. When it came time to schedule thier trip, no dates were available. Seems they like to keep deposits. Most of the stories I found were from a few years ago and ripoffreport.com says they guarentee customer satisfaction, state Better Business Bureaus (BBBs) say the report is currently being updated. Some news channel in Pittsburgh did an investigation a few years back and apparently people were given their money back. Like I said though, most reports are from a few years ago, so I wonder if they are  up to thier old tricks again. I mean how many free vacations can a company really give away. And, how many phone numbers does a reputible company have. I thought I was bold enough to go to the meeting and just say, no, no, no to whatever they wanted me to buy, but now I am not so sure. I don't think it's worth the risk.  By the way, I think David's Bridal is to blame for my mishap. I could write another comment just as long as this one on how they have been terrible. If you want your planning to go smoothly, get out now. pay a little more and go to a different bridal shop.

I got a message from this number today and it was a lot like everyone else's. I also enter a contest from David's Bridal like a few of the other people so I feel like David's Bridal gave my number to this company which makes me very mad. I think I may contact David's Bridal with a complaint..

I got a call from RP Brides saying I had won a grocery card and a bridal vacation package. But I had to attend a cooking presentation at a local hotel in the area. However, they did not have the hotel information and said they would have to call me back the day of. They did call me back on the day of the presentation but I didn't answer.
Funny this is, my mom who also attended the bridal expo with me got the EXACT same 'winning' message today. The message also said she had won a grocery card and a bridal vacation package too. We must be one lucky family! This is such a scam!
