Exactly ..if you think for a second that you can pay them off , well you cant, I wish I hadn't ever sent them the first cent. Pay a bill off and then get a new bill of even more money just forget it.

    Son of the deceased patient
My father hardly ever used Apria's oxygen machine, maybe once or twice, but kept the machine at the house for about a year and never used enough oxygen to justify a tank replacement or refill.  When my dad passes away, Apria came and picked up the equipment and tank and sent me a bill for approximately $20 stating that the rest of the bill was taken care of by my dad's health insurance company. I sent them a check and my wife called them to reconfirm that everything was taken care of. Their representative answered the affirmative and that was that. Now, we are getting a call on my cell phone from 855-387-3227 and the person calling asked for my father and when I told her that my father had passed away, she said "hold on a minute," and never came back on the phone. Thank you all for sharing your horrific experiences with this rip off company and I will be ready for these greedy jerks if and when they call me back. I can't thank you enough.

No one should ever do business with Apria Healthcare in the first place.  If you have a healthcare provider or insurance company refer you to them for any medical equipment, refuse. Insist on getting it from somewhere else even if you have to pay for it yourself outside of your insurance.  In the long run it will be far far less expense and extremely less stressful) Their entire business model is built on grossly overcharging (2-3X's) for medical equipment that you will never own (it's ALWAYS a lease, they hide this fact).  Plus if you change insurance plans even at open enrollment, they claim that starts a new contract and you start over from scratch, ie new down payment every year that could actually be more than buying the item outright on your own from anywhere else.

If you get equipment such as that while on a Medicare plan, then yes, it is a closed end rental, for up to 2 years I believe. At that point you now own the equipment. Changing insurance plans does not change those terms.

Got a call today (4/4/18) about a bill I contested in Oct 2014. Bought a cpap from them in 2012 and it needed repaired 4 days out of the 2 yr. warranty. They kept the unit for 7 months, sent my insurance co. 5 invoices for repairs, 3 of them for replacement which my insurance co. (bc/bs) denied do to lack of info. I rented a unit from the while they had my unit for repair that had no humidity as they don't have humidifiers for rental units even though it was the same unit I was having repaired. They wouldn't allow me to keep my humidifier and hook it up to their rental unit either as it may need repaired. When I finally picked up the repaired unit, I paid them in full $365 of what my insurance didn't pay. I got a phone call from them 2 weeks later stating they needed the unit back because they needed the memory card info to resubmit it to my insurance. I told them I would bring the card in and just put a new card in my unit. They insisted they needed the unit. I told them they should have gotten that info within the 7 months they had it. I get phone call about once every 3-6 months from them. I ask the same question each time. Please send in writing a detailed bill for the dates, parts, labor and just what the total amount of money they have received from my insurance company and paid from me on this outstanding debt that I owe. Never received one and all is quiet from them for 3-6 months.

    KAY KAY
I received a call from this number. She would not give me the company but just kept repeating this is about a private matter. She asked for my social security number. I told her that I would not give my social security number to any unidentified caller. She would not tell me what she was calling about. She kept telling me that she was calling from a call center. When I kept refusing to give her my SSN she started trying to verify my address. The address that she had was an old one where I had not lived in over a year. All I answered to her was that I did not live at that address. When she kept pushing I hung up on her.

    RIP VAN WINKLE
Apria Healthcare is a total scam.  They take advantage of people needed medical equipment and charge outrageous fees.  I could have bought 2 CPAP machines by now for the money I have paid and money they have collected from insurance.  Stay away from rental contacts with Apria. They will rob you blind and then turn you over to collections after they tell you that your account is up to date.

This number probably is associated with Apria. However, with being said Apria is not a bad company as far as service and equipment goes. I have been using them since 2014 and aside from this ojtfit they have been very good.
As to the issue here I believe is pertains to some payments they did not credit me for. In fact I was able to prove I overpaid in light of the fact that I have medicare and a supplimental BC/BS policy which guarantees no out of pocket, no deductable, nothing.
I generally ignore them or sometimes make sport out of them by getting on the line and having hold and so on. You would be surprised how long they will stay on the line for........absolutely nothing! Rotten, yep. Feels good? You bet!  Will I keep doing it; you can take book on it!!!
