If you indicate that they called a work number, they will stop calling that number. I'm guessing there are laws against calling work-related numbers that differ from home numbers, based on how profusely they tend to apologize to me. I have also noticed that it is very rare that I ever receive another call from them again.

Don't ever call one of these numbers back again or signal for an opt out offer.
All this does is certify the operational status of the number they called and your number will be certified and sold to other lists as a place  or number where real people can be reached.  You will  be signing up for many more  such calls.

Get computer program phonetray free, it free. You computer must have a dial up modem so you can plug a phone jack into it and caller ID. Once the number calls you, you blacklist it and no more problems with that number. I have over 100 numbers blacklisted.

These (and others) are responsible for the draining of my cordless phone batteries as well as unwanted interruptions.

I did the same thing and I am hoping they do not continue to call.  My calls ring through the answering machine and leave a LOUD 2 minute long buzzing before it hangs up.  It ties up my line for over 2 minutes.
