It seems it was legit call.  There was a charge on my card at a convenience store for $1.21.   Now, my card is blocked and I have to get a new one.

    Thankful Regions Customer
I got a call and they said they were calling from Regions where they suspected fraudulent use of my debit card.  I did not call that number 1-855-662-8647. I did not call that number I called the number that is published for Regions and told them what happened and they verified that this toll free number is the number for their Fraud Unit and they transferred me to that department and sure enough some jokers in another state used my debit card number to purchase items. The card is in my possession and has never been lost or stolen.
Thanks Regions for being so on top of things before somebody cleaned us out.

It is, in fact, Regions fraud department. Received an email about a suspicious charge, contacted the number that was provided, and after speaking with a woman who asked some questions, I IMMEDIATELY called the number on the back of my card. A representative from Regions assured me that the number I had called was IN FACT the Regions fraud department. But, you really never can be too careful anymore.

Do not give anyone who calls from this number any information about you or your account.  They called saying they were "Regions Bank Fraud Department".  They asked me to give them my debit card information and account number before verifying who I was.  I thought it was strange that the caller never gave me his name and that he wanted me to furnish all of my info.  I hung up and called the number on the back of my card.  I was told that someone in Chicago tried to charge $800.00 on my card.  That someone was the person who originally called me from "regions fraud department". They were trying to get more information to use it against me.  **FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD**

Got this same call a week ago.  Same number.  He gave me last four of a card number that I don't even have.  What tipped me off as suspicious was that he said it was attached to ITunes and something else which was not true.  He said someone tried a debit for 0.00 cents.  I then told him I don't have a card with the last four.  He did know my name and address though.   Real or not?

I received this phone number in an email claiming to be from Regions, which stated that my card had been blocked due to transactions inconsistent with my spending patterns that they were unable to verify. I called the number, and it rang once before someone picked up and only said, "This is Erica." I told her that I received an email about my debit card. She immediately asked for my card number. I said, "I'm sorry, who am I speaking with?" Her response was, "Uhhh hold on let me get you to customer service." She placed me on hold and I hung up, because Regions never asks for my card number over the phone and it was starting to feel suspicious.

However, I contacted Regions through their main 800 number and they confirmed that the email and the telephone number are legitimate, and that my card was blocked due to some online charges coming out of a state where I don't live.

This is a real #. I went to cancel my card online and it gave me a # of 785-7566 to call which redirected me to the same guy. He just canceled my card for me and Regions is sending a new one. Always safer to contact the bank directly & not give our info over the phone though.

855.662.8647  - this is legit. I received a call from the Regions fraud department saying they had blocked some charges and asked me to call back. I did not call back. I called the 800 number on my credit card, confirmed my card had been flagged by their fraud department, and the CS rep quoted the phone number to me correctly.

I got a voicemail from this number that explained they were from Region's fraud center and they noticed suspicious activity on my account. Mind you, I get this call while out of town and immediately start freaking out. I ask my husband to check our account and he asks me what $200 and $128 stuff I bought on Target.com. RED FLAG!!!! I tell him that's not me and I leap of faith call the number. Target wasn't the only charge, they were able to tell me about a Walgreen's charge in Washington state and a Taco Bell in Minnesota. I go comb over my statement and they're right. I will admit, the lady whom I spoke to did not identify herself, which scared me but she cancelled my card and I went straight to my bank the next day. They confirmed it also, someone had my number but the bank saw my old card was cancelled and a new one was on the way. I called the Regions 1-800 line and it even confirmed I had a new card coming.

Bottom Line: If you don't want to call the number they leave, go to your bank, they can handle it there. If you got a call, it's not going to hurt you to check your account and see if there is fraudulent spending.
    Good Luck!!!

It IS Regions Fraud Department. I received an email about fraudulent charges, checked and they were there and I called the number in the email which was 1-855-662-8647. The first lady to answer asked for my card number, which I didn’t think was ok, but after everything, I called the back of the card numbee and they verified. This is Regions as of July 2019.

It is great you did not get scammed!

From the posts, there have been scammers spoofing the number and name that shows in Caller ID in order to trick people.

The best, the only safe way to handle these calls is to thank the caller and then call your bank on a number you know is right and that you dial for yourself.  Start with the number on the back of your CC or Debit Card.
