This is mr. Estelle calling on behalf of the state of Michigan , gave a file number and hrs he works . I blocked the call, I don't owe anyone anything that isn't being paid on a timely manner this is a fraud call

i recievd a call today from unknown number on cell phone so i did not answer, voice mail left stated she was calling from Michigan dept of tresury and gave a ref number to use when i called back and hours of operation, i havent live in Michigan in 5 years. after reading these comment i am not worried i wont be calling them back.

I got a phone call from Mr. Smith doing the same thing -- giving me a reference number when I call, etc. I do owe back taxes to the state, but I have a payment plan set up and I pay on time (or earlier) each month. I haven't received any written notification from the state that there's a problem, so I'm ignoring this.

The State of Michigan.  He said "you need to call us back at 866-218-7224 with #xyz."  If you feel this is an error u need to call us back with #xyz so that we can remove you from our list."

A Mr Banner called me today announcing he was from the State of MI and asked me if I could talk now? I said to him this is not a good time and he replied when? I informed later in the day. I inquired what is this concerning and he told me it is very personal and proceeded to give me a claim number and the  866-218-7224 number and the times available to call back. I find this call very suspicious since I do not owe MI any taxes in fact they currently owe me.

I received a call, the woman asked what were the last four digits of my social security number.I told her that I hadn't received any correspondence from the Treasury Dept.and I wasn't giving her any info. I told her that I was aware that this number is on the scammers lost and don't call me again.

Its a collection company for the state of Michigan Treasury. Avoid them all you want but you'll have to pay them anyway

The ol' gutless coward debt collector spoofing calls trick. People would know if the state was after them and some outsourced debt collection agency that can't identify themselves other than supposedly calling as the client is pure BS. Take a hike fraud dud!

Wrong they dont call you, they send letters in the mail. Only time you will receive a call from them or IRS is if your already in contact with a particular agent resolving a issue. Period.

I recieved a call that said "scam likly "on my phone the caller left 866218 7224 as a call back number..when i googled the number i got a irs article warning about an irs scam

After researching this number, I found it posted on the official michigan tax website. I decided to go ahead and give them a call back, and found out that I had some back taxes I didn't know about. The woman on the phone was very helpful, and help me to set up an affordable payment plan as I'm quite broke at the moment. She also assured me that they are not a contracted debt collecting agency, they are a collections department within the michigan government. She did not collect any of my payment information over the phone. The whole conversation was very professional and helpful. I suggest if you get a call from this number, you call them back because you probably owe some money, and they are there to help you sort it out before it turns into a bigger problem for you.
