It's a SCAM. They give you a reference number, don't mention the ministry or say it's confidential. Then they will ask for a cheque to clear your income tax dues. SCAM. The number appeared as unavailable for me but they gave me this number to call back.

"NO CALLER ID" on my iphone and asked for my friend with full name and last name. I said "I know that person but it's  not me". The guy asked for my friend's number but I refused to give him. The guy told me I call from Quebec government, ask your friend to call me back at 866 242 4482 with *** reference number.
My friend called that number but there was nothing serious on his file and his number was already in his file. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!!!!!
Never give any information on phone to someone whom is not identified.

Automated voice in French says it was calling on behalf of the Québec government and that I have to call them back on the stated toll-free number. However, doesn't say what it is about, nor gives a reference number or agent ID.
However, when the robo call came in, it showed up as anonymous.
I don't believe that this is legit for one second; it must be a scam. I haven't called back.

I called revenue Quebec fraud dept they say the # doesn’t belong to them. Also the ID # they leave doesn’t have enough digits. It’s fraud becareful
Yellow page search shows it being coming from the USA.

June 20th - This is a real number. Funny story. The guy called me and said to call that number as I thought it could be a fraud. I looked the number up here and thought it could be a fraud. Then I went to my taxes and called 514-864-6299 to talk to Rev Quebec. I asked the guy that answered if that 866-242-4482 was a fake number. He said no and it ended up being the same guy that originally called me. LOL. I dealt with my taxes.

It is a legitimate number and my letter had a legitimate reference number.  If you want to be sure, simply call the Revenu Quebec number from their website and ask for the phone number for the collections department--it is the same.  They will even connect you through so you can be more confident about the call.

Rang Revenu Quebec. This phone number is not on their list. When Revenu Quebec calls you, the agent leave a name and extension. Always check first on the web that this is legitimate phone number - in doubt call one of the numbers on the web site.

 That should be done 100% of the time. Legitimate numbers are spoofed all the time so the only way you can be sure of who you are talking to is to call them at a known, published phone number.

NO THIS IS A SCAM ALL THE WAY..........DO NOT EVEN CALL THAT NUMBER..

If the Canadian Government want's to talk to you they will send you a letter and doc. stating the case............this is a total scam.

Registered message coming from Alabama US, giving my name to call back at that number from Gov Quebec ! It is a scam!
