I got a call stating it had to do with an HP order. I have made no orders to Hewlett Packard.  A woman claimed it was the fraud department and that my phone number was connected with an order suspected of fraud.  She wanted me to give her my credit card number which I refused to give her.  She then suggested I call my credit card company and check to see if there were any large orders to HP charged to my account.  I suspect some sort of attempt to steal my credit card number.

This is a fraud unit at HP. They called me to inform me someone had ordered a computer (not me) with my credit card number. They declined the order because it matched "fraud trends" they already knew. Wouldn't give me any more details than that. They did not ask for my credit card number; in fact they gave me the last 3 digits. They told me to call the credit card company and file a police report, which I've done.

This is the number to HP's fraud center. If an order is made on HP's site and doesn't go through for some sort of security reason, they will contact you. It's a legitimate number.

This is a valid number.  I got a call from them regarding an HP order that I did not place.  I called the regular HP number instead of calling this number and talked to a sales guy who looked up my order with my name and mailing address.  Someone had used my credit card and tried to buy a HP notebook.  They gave me the order number and the shipping address where the order was going to.

The telephone number (866) 246-0504 "is" Hewlett Packard.
The actual telephone number that I got the call from was (281) 257-7820 and they left the other number as a call back number.  The telephone number (281) 257-7820 "is" also a Hewlet Packard
    phone number.

A lady named Stephanie called and said that she had a question about my order with Hewlett Packard.  She left that message on my answering machine.   However, I had not ordered anything
from them, so I was skeptical about the call at first.

I make purchases with my Discover Card, so I went on line and checked my account.   There were actually two fradulent charges to my account.  One to HP, and the other to Tigerdirect.com.  I called
the phone number on the back of my discover card, reported the fraud, and they closed my account immediately and reissued a new card with no liability to me for the fraud.   Then, I immediately called both of the companies that the fradulent charges were to, and I notified them of what happened.  Surprisingly, "both" companies already had the purchases listed as "possible fraud" already.  They had a hold on the orders already and had not sent them out.

HP told me that they work with the credit card companies every day.  The money charged to the
credit card simply gets returned and then the investigators trace down the culprit.  They gave me
an order reference number and told me that the order had been for a laptop computer.

Received a call from someone named Louis in my voicemail the day after placing an online order for a computer with HP.  Message was hard to understand due to foreign accent and poor grammar, but it said to call back about my order for the computer.  I called the regular HP sales department number to ask if there was a problem with my order, and they confirmed that the order was correctly processed with no issues.  They also said they had no record of any call being made to my phone number concerning my order.  "Louis" did state the correct order number, however, so he got a hold of it somehow.   HP said that even if someone was able to get a hold of my phone number or email address, that my credit card number was secure.  HP did state that they work with banks and credit card companies in cases of fraud involving orders "all the time".  Just have to keep a watch on credit card activity and credit reports.

I placed an order online for an HP laptop this morning and got a call from a different number from someone named Pam who left a message with this as the callback number. I was very skeptical at first but when I called back Jenny informed me the purchase was flagged as a possible fraud and that she needed my financial institution to verify that the name, address and phone number for the order matched that on my card, and that there were no suspicious changes to the account within the last 30 days. We conference called my bank and the rep asked for my verbal consent to verify these things to Jenny. No other information of mine was given out. I feel grateful that this extra step was taken to ensure that everything was legit.
