It used to be that if you told a company to remove you from their calling list; that had to do so and usually did (at least for a year or so). Has anyone tried this tactit? If so, has it worked? I would imagine that scammers would just ignore you.

I received a call from these people at my sons grandparents house. They were given my number because they made the grandmother think it was a call from my sons school. Although they said it was "school related but not an emergency". I am quoting them. Right after I got the message from the grandmother I called my sons high school and they assured me no phone call was made from the school trying to reach me. I was disturbed because, like many of you they had my childs full name and a contact number even though it wasnt the correct one, they still had it. I waited at home for a call from them hoping they would continue to try and reach me. I finally got it a couple days later. In the mean time I did some research and found this website. I also tried to call back the number and got the "invalid entry" message.  So, the phone call came and knowing what to expect I acted as if I was very intrested but still cautious I asked for their website and phone number to reach them. "Ken" supplied me with both!!! Oh HAPPY DAY!!!!! THANK YOU KEN!!!! Here is the infomation...

Ken did tell me that this call was initiated by my son when he took his PSATs. He also asked me "is **** (my sons name) a sophmore?" I lied and said yes but then Ken said "oh okay because sometimes we get 3rd graders on our lists by accident".  I didnt even ask how or why because I was afraid Ken would hang up and or not give me anymore information. I also filed a complaint with the BBB here in my state. So if you want more information give them a call, contact them via their website...have fun with it. Dont forget to ask for Ken. Maybe you'll get lucky and talk to him. lol. I am making light of this and I shouldnt be because they do have my sons information and that means someone sold it to them. I am angry and disturbed but I also know now I am a step ahead of them. File a complaint with the BBB. Give them all the information you can, give the company a call get more information, ask where they got your childs information from.

i just got a call and they asked for mr or mrs grubbs.  ive had this number for 4.5 years and told him that.  he then said "oh only that long" and the phone went dead.

for the record...the grubbs----the peole who had this number before me i think have really bad credit.  they get a TON of calls....still!!

this number, 866-493-7224 keeps calling and i do no answer the phone. however when the answering machine comes on this number broadcast a most obnoxious high frequency beeping that goes on until the answering machine shuts of or is full. they call all the time. i have  had my phone company "block" this number for 3.00 per month and for now it is worth the money. whoever this number belongs to, they are bad people.

This company has a 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau.  When too many complaints are placed against this company name.  Ira will simply start over with a new company name and or a new scam. He formerly operated Dream Scholarships company where he also stole millions in dollars from unsuspecting well meaning parents. Use extreme caution and NEVER give your credit card to this company or any company that has Ira Pupko or Kristie Whit or Whitfield behind the scenes.

Do not give them any information about your childen, they are FRAUDS.

asked for daughter and when they were told she wasn't home they just hung up...  This is a scam to sell PSAT prep classes.

The comments I have read about are very, very scary.  What I would like to know is HOW DID THIS PERSON GET MY CHILD'S NAME AND PHONE#????????  A man just called from this number and asked to speak to "<my 15 year old child's name>'s Mom or Dad.  I hesitated just a moment and he hung up on me.  Very, very scary.

I have worked for TPS for 4 years. I cannot in good conscience allow some lunatic to post this kind of blasphemy without remarking. It's AMAZING to me that a person can post, without identifying oneself, such blatant lies. TPS sometimes hires sales associates to work as Independent Consultants from their respective homes. They (we) are extensively trained so that we are QUALIFIED to offer parents worthy advice with respect to most matters SAT/ACT related. The company takes this space seriously and has ALWAYS been adamant about its' reps comporting themselves professionally. Occasionally, an individual who has been hired proves to be rogue or renegade in his or her approach to the job and TPS has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy with regard to this type of behavior, meaning that if discovered, a rep will be immediately terminated without warning. There have been a couple of those people who've sought "retaliation" for being terminated by posting malicious, vengeful postings on the internet. They irk me to no end and I can only IMAGINE how the subject, Ira, feels about them. I'm going to tell you that the majority of Educational Consultants associated with TPS has been together for years and pride ourselves in our ability to represent our very worthy product ethically, professionally and ACCURATELY to the public. To the vengeful idiot(s) who have impugned our and Ira's integrity, I can only hope that your bad-faith attempt(s) to cast aspersions are viewed transparently by the public as the mean-spirited blatant lies that they are. Just plain WRONG.

Get 5 or 6 of these calls every week. If I answer they hang up

It's just sad that you can attempt to justify your way of making a living by out right lying to parents and misrepresenting yourself as an "educational counselor" when your really just a telemarketer. Just be honest with yourself or that's too hard... take a look TestPrep Services.org  rating with the Better Business Bureau. They consistently have a a 'F RATING' and that is obtained from consumers complaints that are investigated by the non-biased, consumer protection agency. Enough of Ira and his lies.....are you under the spell of Ira?

This is a scam where the criminals try to sell ACT "prep materials".  Our neighbors unfortunately got taken in by this.

866-493-7224 shown as "Toll Free".  They call to sell SAT/ACT CD Rom for $230 and originally state their name to be "SAT Prep Center".

I have submitted a claim with the National Do Not Call registry and the FTC Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357.  The more complaints they receive the sooner it will stop them.

I also called the company at 888-572-8228 and left a long voicemail message with my complaint and reiterated my request to remove me from all marketing list.  I received a call back the same day from Edward with an apology with the assurance that they will not be calling me again.

These people called and asked about our son and the ACT or SAT and after some give and take they hung up.   Why did they call and what did they want....

These people call me at least 4 times a day, every day! I never answer thanks to caller ID and they never leave a message. It is frustrating for me because I am on the national do not call list and work 3rd shift. They are constantly disturbing my sleep. Enough already,can't someone stop this madness?

I have also been getting their calls.  Ironically, I "interviewed" with Kristi Whit.  It was a group phone interview but it appeared that everyone that could breath to an email was invited to a second interview.  Some people at the first interview were dumber than a bag of rocks.  They send a bunch of forms that had to be signed and returned before the second interview.  They get your child's name because your child checked a box when they took the SAT/PSAT.  This probably gets them around any do not call lists.  We were told to answer questions honestly if the right questions were asked but to imply that we were affiliated with the College Board.  They really want you to sign up for the scholarship service since that is a recurring charge.  If you take the "job" they give you dialing software that you use from your computer.  it automatically selects the next number in a queue so that calls are made from 9 to 9 in your local time zone.  All information here was as of 2009 so it could have changed.

I've been getting several calls a day, and I've calle the number back an it's fake, the I called the company number listed in a post above an stated to them that I'm on the federal do no call list, and I've filed complaints with the FCC and the FTC, and left a voicemail saying if the calls continued I would Persu legal action for harassment.

I just got a call from these folks. When I explained that I wasn't interested in their product the woman called me an idiot and hung up on me. I have two college degrees and she is a telemarketer... who do you think the idiot really is (rhetorical question... sorry)   I did a *69 and got their phone number and tried to call back but the number does not take incoming calls.  I read an earlier post about filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and I did just that and you can too.  Here is the FTC's web address.  To file a complaint click the link on the right   https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
