Report a phone call from 866-559-0025 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- JeffSame experience as many others: I got a voicemail from this number. Then, I called the number on the back of my credit card, and there was a fraud block on my card. I confirmed the charges.
I'm shocked that BofA would actually tell you to call this number, rather than say, "Please call the number on the back of your credit card." Banks suck at security. - AlexeyJust called this number, it is BOA message center, there was a message about a fraudulent transaction, they knew my CC number and connected me to the rep that promised to send a new card.
- Caller: BOA
- WazI got a call saying fraudulent activity was detected on my card and asking me to call 866-559-0025.
I instead called the number on the back of BofA Visa and got a series of menus asking for my card number, expiration, FULL 9-digit Social Security Number, date of birth, and 3-digit security code, which I declined to provide.
I presed 00 to get a live person, who only asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN, but DID NOT identify himself as a BofA representative. Apparently this goes to a contractor (FIA Card Services) working on behalf of the bank. He was able to tell me the last four transactions on the card, which leads me to believe this is legitimate (if they have access to my card records, it better be!).
All of these charges were legitimate, and he said the hold would be taken off my card.
In any event, the amount of information they request is enough to compromise the security of your account. Let them know you want your card security protected!- Caller: FIA Card Services
- Lauren| 1 replyRead all previous messages regarding this being a phishing scam. It is NOT. I received auto call this am. which left the 866-559-0025 number for callback. I was suspicious so I called the phone number on back of my debit card instead. BofA identified 866# as one of their direct internal lines for their fraud division. When I called it they asked for the calling code provided by the original auto call. The recording tried to go through recent charges to get my approval or denial. Couldn't understand name of company trying to make some charges as it turned out to be foreign. Called customer service line back. Turns out someone tried to buy airline tix on my AMEX card through BofA. They first sent a $1 charge from a local travel agency. When it posted (valid account number), they followed up with an attempt to buy $1500+ of airline tix from international site. BofA fraud unit caught it and denied the charge. BofA did confirm that anytime you are concerned that numbers are bogus, you should start with numbers posted on your card.

- BofA customer replies to MelNot a scam. Legit BofA fraud alert.
Called the number my credit card to verify and went straight to the fraud dep't (hardly any phone tree!). Site they refer to is http://www.bankofamerica.com/myfraudprotection --- That's a BofA site.
Call the number on your card if you're unsure, of course. - TCThis *is* legitimate and *not* a scam.
I called Bank of America and there was indeed a fraud block. During the call to the Tel # they left on my VM, I did not have to enter any fully personal information. I entered in a "message code" they told me in the voice message along with the last 4 digits of my credit card. I then just confirmed the charges they thought were suspicious through their interactive phone system. - graphicsports replies to MelReceived a call from this number yesterday, and I responded to the number on the back of the credit card. They verified the number was legit, but if you have any doubts, just respond to the number on the back of the credit card in question.
- Elle85650Received a message to call this number due to fraudulent activity on my cc ending in xxxx. Called the number and entered my billing zip code. Recording provided a transaction amount, date, and business name; however, I could not understand the business name. I called 800 number on back of my cc and spoke to a rep who confirmed my identity. He told me about the fraudulent activity and provided the same info that the recording at the 866 number gave me. Charge was fraudulent. Card was cancelled while I was on phone and rep explained the written procedure (form to complete) when I received my billing statement.
- Hi Fraudsters| 1 replyCommon guys!

I have been planning a trip to Disney and I entered my BofA credit card on Disney's website confirming our trip to be used for incidentals when we check in. They charged $1 on my card to make sure the credit card is active and open to be used. BofA contacted me asking me to verify the charge. This number 866-559-0025 is BofA's fraud detection service for your credit card!
- anonAfter seeing the mixed responses here, I decided to call the customer service number on the back of my card instead. I did have to give my last four digits, pin and expiration date and then got routed to verify an automated listing of my last few transactions, which were fine in my case, but did "look" strange because they include a couple of larger amounts for two large purchases at one store within a few minutes. I never had to use the 866-559-0025 number because I was automatically routed to the fraud protection feature via customer service.
- Caller: Bank of America
- MicheleThis is not a scam number. We called the number on our card and they verified this number, as well as fraudulent purchases that were made on our card..
- NickThis actually is Bank of America. They called a few times and then left me a message. The voicemail sounds pretty shady, but immediately afterwards I also got an email alert and an alert via my BofA Android app.
This is legitimate, but to be safe just call the 800 customer service number on the back of your card.- Caller: Bank of America
- DanPhishing scam! Be careful!
- JeanThis is not a scam. It is a legit number from the Fraud Protection Service. Apparently, using the same card to gas up 2 vehicles within 1/2 an hour caused a red flag to go up. But it is good they are looking out - or rather a computer is probably looking out.

- Carol R replies to RodWondering what bank you called because I called BofA and they said it is a SCAM!
- Carol R replies to LaurenI got the same message, called the number which was an automated voice asking for me to enter my zip code. When I did it said it was incorrect. I then called the bank which said that it was NOT one of the numbers they would use and that it IS a phishing scam. Someone had tried to open a checking account online using my name, phone number, birthdate...but had an address in Alabama. I live on the west coast. I had to put fraud alerts on all my accounts now.
- YvThis is a phishing scam - they call saying they are from B of A to confirm a transaction and try to get you to the website and enter your credit card number. DO NOT DO THIS or call them. I called B of A and cancel the card.
- LeslieRI think it's both real AND phishing. I received a voice message left by this 866 number saying there was a possible fraud issue with my BoA card. I was leary--and called the cust. svc. number on my card. Indeed, there WAS a fraud attempt on my card and the bank shut down the card. I think the 866 number may be set up by the fraudsters in an attempt to get you to their fraud Web site to somehow unknowingly approve the charges. But--my initial contact was from this 866 number and when I called the bank at another number, the alert was real. Then again, the number could be legit, as the bank WOULD try to notify you. But, be alert--YOU contact THEM. Never give out info when they contact you.
- Caller: "Bank of America" supposedly
- DaphneThis is legit. I called the number on the back of my card and the service rep confirmed that over $1000 was charged to my card fraudulently. They shut my card down. They also identified to me the name that was associated with the charges and it was nothing I ever heard of. They did not ask for any personal information other than my zip code.
