- Debtfree widowI received a call from this number. My son answered it and since they were referring to my late husband, we put it on speaker. We were on HOLD for 60 MINUTES. During that time I got all sorts of things done and figured it was a waste of time. I got on this site and found out about the scammers. At the end of 60 minutes a recording came on that they couldn't take my call at this time and please call back. I didn't call them, they called me!

- PatricaMy husband died in Feb. of this year and I have been getting a recorded message from this number about once a week asking if I was the person handling the affairs of him. If yes, press 1. I did press 1 and another recorded message asks me to wait to be connected to a representative. I once waited 10 minutes and hung up because i was never connected to anyone. Now I don't answer or answer and hang up. I don't know who it is.
- Caller: Don't know
- Shame on Them replies to TheresaI can top that. They called recently and barely a month after a family member died. Too bad for them the deceased had no estate and lived in a non-community property law state.
I agree. The only thing they have respect for (and despite what they claim), is
money. Shameful. - RONALD| 1 replyYou guys are idiots. I was called by Phillips and Cohen and they told me right away that I'm not liable for my grandfather's debts. It's not a scam. They're just doing their job. You ppl r dumb

Shills posting in ALL CAPS.... - DJI received a call from this phone number. He said he was calling regarding the account with a major retailer that was my deceased husband's account. I explained to him that I had already been in contact with the retailer and that the matter was closed. He affirmed that I indeed was NOT liable but the retailer was not allowed to tell me the matter was settled as the account actually belonged to a bank. He also wanted to know if there was an open Estate for my husband! I told him to send me the information in written form but he couldn't come up with my address! I lost my husband of 60 years! Should I have to be harassed by scam artists? No! i will also report to FTC immediately.

- LizMy ex-step dad's aunt called me yesterday to tell me that she received a call from "Paul Carrington" at (866) 654-5605 ext. 2144 regarding my mom, who passed away in April 2014. Phillips & Cohen Associates must have done what other people said and searched the Internet or white pages looking for people with the same last name as my mom. Wow. My ex-step dad's aunt told me they called asking for my mom and when she specifically asked if this is regarding a debt, Paul replied that it was not in regard to a debt, but instead an estate probate. I don't think so. I am glad I found this Web site with all the posts from people regarding their interactions with this company. I will definitely NOT be calling them back! I don't have time for people's games.

- yoliMy mother received a letter from Phillips & Cohen referencing my stepfather's passing and were seeking executor of his estate to pay prior outstanding bills, etc,, etc. He died in 2012!!! I called them and after giving them the DOB of my stepfather, they told me it was a debt from our Home Depot credit card, which is still active. Not certain where they dug up this info. It is a family card with other users. I told them I'd speak to Home Depot and hung up.

- Bonnie replies to Deceased Care SpecialistKeep in mind, though, that many folks are in a different financial position after losing their loved one and can't necessarily afford to pay that person's debts. When my mother-in-law passed away, that ended her Social Security income. My father-in-law, with his limited income through Social Security, could barely keep up with household expenses because of that change in income. The house payment stays the same whether you have one income or two to cover it. There's no way he could have continued to pay her credit card bill, and I don't think someone in his shoes should be made to feel guilty for that!

- Grieving GrandmaI too am receiving these menacing phone calls on my deceased husbands cell phone. I just received certified death certificates a week ago, and am notifying his few creditors of his death. But from what I understand, there is a federal database that is automatically notified when someone passes away. Evidently that is how these vultures get their information, and begin the bullying process. I encourage people to know the laws in the state you reside in .... seek advice if you don't. I especially encourage those of us who are over 55 to ask questions and know your rights.... you're a target! Don't be snared by lack of knowledge!

But a lawyer we were speaking with told us nobody is responsible for her debt. So folks dont fall for it. Let them be nasty its what they are. Pigs.
