This is American Express calling to collect late payments.

This is American Express calling about late payments - on a long ago closed corporate card from an employer 10 years ago!
Not sure why they are calling me to collect from him, but I plan to send a cease and desist letter.

Having been calling when I am working. But I get no voice message from them about anything

They first tried to tell me that an attempted purchase of over $8,000(USD) was made using an American Express card with the last 4 digits of 1127 upon an online cannabis store, then "transferred" me to a "supervisor" saying that the purchase was made AT a physical store IN China with the last 4 digits of 7064. Told me that it was cleared up, hung up on me... then called me back 10 minutes later and asked me why I hung up on them. Said that his name was "Henry Lewis" but spoke with a Middle Eastern/Indian accent.

Same to me in 05/2024. It’s a fraud call.

The amount of calls I get from this number is crazy.  I have perfect credit, owe nothing, and don't know how to make this stop.

A call back to the number says "Welcome to American Express."  Goes on to tell you that calls are monitored.  Maybe it's American Express but numbers can be spoofed and scammers are clever.  Why not call American Express using the number on your card?  If they are calling, you'll be able to find out why. Perhaps they've made an error and you can straighten out any problems.  If it's not AMEX calling, block the number.  If they're calling a land line, get a call blocker.  Just search the net for "call blocker."  You'll find many.  I had one myself when I had a landline.  If they're calling your cell phone, block it.  If you don't know how, check with your provider or download a call blocking app.  Don't let this mistake or scam (whatever it is) be a source of anxiety.  Hit it head on.
