    Greetings,

Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC, has been harassing me starting December 11, 2009 and when I called them they called their provider and said I was harassing them.

First off, they told me that they were looking for Timothy Taphner [spelling?] in Toledo Ohio and provided his last mailing address.  I am not Timothy and they know this but continue to call and harass me.

I have decided to provide them my attention for a while and so I will be consolidating their information on my site, http://www.stop-spam.org/  I will be adding all the telephone numbers, addresses, mailing addresses, etc.... so they can be easily identified as the caller.

Also, I would like to bring a class action against them for this.  I live in Washington State and there are Federal and State wide Class actions.

Complaint reference for the FTC is: [reference #24988731 and #25092315]
The FTC will tell you have to send a letter to get them to stop, I say not gonna happen and the more people that complain the more attention this company will get.

If Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC, has been calling you and you are not the target of the debt please contact me at abuse@stop-spam.org, so this abuse can be stopped.

    fedup with it!
A person by the name of PAM MORAN called my family.  After leaving a message, I returned the call and she acted "stupid" like she had no idea and really sweet trying like she was helping.  When in fact, she has a known reputation for being a DEBT COLLECTOR.  When I inquired as to what a "mercantile" was she tried to make it believe like I was somehow inconveniencing her and then she stated I don't need to be spoken to like that and hung up!  I attempted to call her back several times and she continued to hang-up on me only to get out before hand well I guess i just wont be helping you then!  She's not helping she's collecting!  Very rude.  furthermore, She failed to follow the requirements of the Fair debt Collection Practices ACT (www.ftc.gov).  I proceeded to file a complaint with the FTC...what a crock of bull the way she was behaving!  Not to mention inconveniencing family and then not identifying the reason for the call!

We keep getting calls from this number, but when we try to call them back and tell them they have the wrong number, no one answers. They fill up our answering machine on a daily bases. The message usually states who they are looking for and if we don't hang up it is assumed we are the person they are looking for....well, an answering machine can't hang up.

I too have been receiving calls from the following numbers:
    1.  Caller ID:  1-866-716-1544 (person identified herself as Bree, and left the following number to call her back at, 1-866-839-7277).

I know my rights under Fair debt, and use of intimidation or false misrepresentation is illegal, and they need to identify themselves, which when I pressured her to give me name of company and address and who they are - she would not.  Illegal to the max.

The call stated the following;  Please call x 3027 to discuss a legal matter that is being brought up against you.  Either you or legal representation.  Use of intimidation and making it look like they are attorneys.

If anyone has their address please forward.  Thanks
    D

I received a call from this number asking for a Shirley/Shelly (something like that, they woke me up so I can't remember exactly) Williams. I told the man he had the wrong number. He repeated my number and asked me if he had it right. He had the number right, but I'm not this Ms Williams. He asked me how long I had the number, I told him several years. He said it was the number he got from the phone company for this woman. I told him my number was unlisted and the phone company wouldn't do that. I said I was sorry, but I'm not this woman. He said he was sorry too, and called me Ms Williams. He was very rude. Luckily he hasn't called me back. He didn't volunteered any information about himself or who he represented, but did mention Ms Williams owed him money.

She stated, the message is required by law...I told her I didnt care what the law requires, she is being informed to delete my number...and than if it continues we will see what the law says. She deleted my number....and hung up. We shall see where we go from here.

Mercantile is a office that is ran off of conflict of interest, favoritism, and stabbing people in the back. If the owner owes money to someone they give that person a job then feed the person so they take home big azz bonus checks and give the person a salary. Pam Moran anyone?

By skip tracing you corn ball. Why did you lie about your legal matter. It was your last four digits of your ss# and it was your cell #. Obviously it was a bill you decided not to pay back. Now your just a prime example of a dbtr who takes the c.c. and  Spends the money. Then does not pay it back. Typical bum.

Receiving calls from Mercantile Adjustment (Roxanne Santos) about a debt charge off since 1995 I am fully aware of.  This woman never quoted a fair debt compliance. This is an attempt to collect a debt.....blah blah blah.  She violated the FTC. If her call was monitored unless she owns the business she should be fined.

This woman claim a judgment was brought up against me and that I owe a credit card debt money from all these years.  I check TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. And there is no debt on my credit report about the creditor.   I shop in the store still yet today and pay with debit card, and spend more money in that store since a young teen. If I owe them. All that money spent shopping in that store, should be a wash.

These home made collection agencies what they do (because I have worked for them) is collect old out dated debts they purchase and are breaking the law about judgments are made against consumers of debts past 10 years old. These type of statements ARE NOT to be disclosed to anyone over the phone if its not true.  If there is a judgment, this judgment has to be assisted by attorneys and mail in writing to the person(s) owed the debt. Threatening behavior and ruthless character to collect a debt is violation of the FDCPA in the range of $1000 per call made to your home coercion to receive payment on a debt owed or charge off many many years ago.

I once worked in these sweat shops and they get off on making themselves look BIG to set examples to new hires with big eyes desperate to make a lot of money harassing consumers. It is a roller coaster job and many people just don't have the money to pay back a debt. The bank accounts are closed unable to cash check at the bank. And many unable to get apartment buy a house or any of these things over debts owed. This country is unfair regarding paying back debts and implementing fair debt practices on collect a debt.

The debt collectors are commission salaries. If they do not collect a check or post date interval payments, they are not paid. The boss might give them minimum wage to train, but after training your quote is to collect at least $500 daily.  Their voices are firm and cold, angry and stressed when you call about what debts owed. They are unreasonable to speak in a two way conversation, and feel as though must have control of the call on all ends.  Many times I have call creditors to pay back debts, and attempt to arrange payment, but the way they handle me. I sent all my debts to CCC and owe no one debts like this woman speaking.  Its not on my credit report and I am not paying it.Most especially this debt is what she speaking back 1980's. Come on now. Get real.

These debt collectors sit around all day smoking lots of cigarettes and eating at desk all day. It is a stinking environment. Carpet filthy and bathrooms stench like a back out house.  I quit the first day work in one of them cold calling debt collections offices Credit Card high interest rate collecting pieces of [***]. Big fat huge men and women sitting around in broken chairs leaning back talking BS on the phone to consumers who once or did, have a hard time after losing job, divorce, etc. In turn, people end up in debt and unable to pay. People have to live. Debts is not on their list first hand, when have to pay car note, light bill, and house note. No one is going to get out thousands of dollars to satisfy the commission quota of Roxanne Santos. She is not God, most definitely is not my emperor. When a person does try to pay back overextended debts the same collection agencies become unreal asking for most of the money when all folks have is $50 a month, or $25 per month. When they refuse payment, I would call a CCC to arrange consolidation restructure of debts when debt collectors are greedy and  refuse your payments. Get out of here.

The employer Mercantile does not pay them. These collectors are on a commission salary. If no debts are collected you don't get paid. You might get a base up front minimum wage added to the commission salary. Of which many get big checks sporadically and it boost their ego to get that same pay check again. Creative therapy they call it. Harassing consumers pays some of them well when they frighten you to pay by threat of judgments, never sent to court.

It is why when they call you the collector pass on the stress to you.  Nothings working and people are hanging up on them or cursing them out. They need money, and they need it NOW! It is really sad that they are getting away with this, but many are collecting debts pass 10 - 20 years old because people are frighten and fear property and such will being seize.  When you pay them they get 50% of that debt.  All debts are written off after 10 years, its similarly to bankruptcy. The creditor has insurance and write it off.  If within 10 years you owe a debt and it is no longer on your credit report in an active name you are using, are identifying you as the debtor, these people cannot harass you for money 2 decades old.

How they find you is if you have probate or any thing going on in public source, sale of property and other items, they see this listing. Purchase of car, signature loans, new job. And then the attempts are made to call your employer to get you fired, and or they even come to your house. Any damn collector come to my house I am going to beat damn [***] down right in front of my house.  Consumers has rights. Call FDCPA or be inclusive to Class Action Law Suits against Cold Callers breaking this law.

The seven year statute of limitations on information listed on your credit report figures from the date of last activity.

According to the FCR Act Section 605 a debt can remain on a credit report for 7 years and 180 days after the delinquency that caused the account to go bad. Sometimes creditors will sell their bad accounts or post information on the credit report to show an activity date that is less than 7 years. THIS IS PROHIBITED. (I ended up having a judgment removed, the collection accounts removed, and the original creditor account removed.) In short, the time clock starts on the month the original delinquency started by the original account, regardless of whether the account has been sold to a collection agency, was paid at a later date, or a judgment was placed. The FTC has ruled this to be the law when it comes to time periods. If the credit reporting agencies are showing an account on your record that originally went bad more than seven years ago, regardless of date of last activity, dispute the information and they will have to remove it. The reasoning behind this is similar to chapter 13 bankruptcy which stays on your credit for just 7 years instead of chapter 7. The courts have ruled if you did not file a bankruptcy and had several bad credit items they would strictly fall in under the chapter 13 guidelines. I ended up paying on debts that were less than 7 years old and had all the collections, judgments, and original creditors of more than 7 years removed. Even though the judgment was only 2 years old and unpaid and the collection account was only 3 years old, they were still bound to the time line of the original creditor. This regulation prevents accounts from staying on your credit forever.
