it's also common for people to give fake numbers on accounts, so just because a collection agency calls, doesn't often mean they are actually calling for you.

You're a moron, my girlfriend and I both have listed numbers and common last names and we both continually get calls from creditors lookings for people we have never heard of.

@Consumer, you don't know what you're talking about. These people call here all of the time and NO ONE in this house has any un-payed bills or debt. We've had the same phone number for the past 15+ years, so this isn't a case of 'the previous owner of the number' and they ask for the correct people (and our names aren't that common), so they don't have the wrong number .. This company isn't as legit as someone commented before. We have no debt, but yet they keep calling, saying we owe them. We don't owe them (or any one else) anything. They never have any of the information correct, and always requests our social and birthdate - no thank you!

My daughter also had a new number and was recieving the same types of calls, and the person leaving the messages was named Jessica.  I returned their call to 866 732-1626 and spoke to a representative about the unwanted phone calls on my daughter's new phone.  They asked if the phone number belonged to a person not known to us, and I verified that it did not.  They have promised to have the number deleted form their records for that person and we should not get any more calls.

They do have a habit of starting their call around 8:00 am.
I have reported them to the District Attorney I was told that there is a law on the books that any company, collections or not is not to call a citizen before 9:00 am.

They've been calling every day for the past week. I never answer calls with numbers I don't know, but they kept calling. I thought, "perhaps it's something urgent?" and answered the phone once. I stayed quiet and so did they. Then they just hanged up.
If they're not going to say anything why call? Does anybody even know if this debt collecting company even exists? And if it does exist, why do they know your number and maybe even personal information?

Then why don't they ever leave a message?

You are a narrow minded douche if you think that the the people that are getting these calls just "aren't opaying their bills". Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth and some people have extenuating circumstances. Either way, no one deserves to be harrassed.

It's a collection agency. Called here claiming to have a debt (never heard of the company) but refusing to send documentation. They will be sued if they repeat the behavior, I'll leave it at that.

from 2010-2011 kept a list of these calls. the caller would use a different message on some calls. would say, this is Jessica this is a urgent-call this number, this is a very important call, this is not a sale call-do not disregard this call. caller does not give name who the call is for.# 866-732-1626

8-30-11 had 8 hang ups total, on the 6th call I *69 for # 866-732-1626. this is the same number that I have from past calls with messages, from a female caller using the name JESSICA. on 8-31-11 had 8 hang ups, 5th + 6th call came back to back in the same minute. on 9-1-11 had 7 hang ups. on 9-2-11 had 2 hang ups in AM and the 3rd in the PM with a message from a male caller saying-To Order Viagra etc. did not give his name or a Phone number. I *69 for the number, the automatic call back service gave, Zero 00-000-0000? Strange Number. on 9-3-11 had 3 hang ups. Notice all the calls came each day- Aug.30,31,- Sept.1,2,3, 2011.

Continued: on 9-4-11, 1-hang up.  on 9-5-11, 6 hang ups.  on 9-6-11, 6 hang ups and the 7th call with a message from a male caller saying-Important message about your Student Loan-call # 800-635-3743  From Aug.-Sept, 2011 most calls came from # 866-732-1626 and # 800-635-3743 since calls came back to back they must be from these two numbers. It cost to much to try and get all numbers from the * 69 Service. I like to get the numbers mainly from those who leave a message without Leaving their name and/or phone number. when using *69 Service, some calls you can't get their phone numbers, because of out of the area or unknown numbers.

This shows your ignorance when you flippantly say 'just pay your bills.'.  We have always paid our bills. We have never had anything go unpaid.  Yet this collection agency calls our number repeatedly.  They ask for someone we have never even heard of and when told that person does not live here and to please remove our number they slam down the phone and then continue to call back.  I no longer take my time to answer the phone when they call.

So it has nothing to do with 'just paying your bills' (eyeroll) and everything to do with being crude, rude, and crass to the people they call which isnt even the people they are looking for.  It is blantant harrassment and they lie and say they are attorneys as if that will threaten someone..  They are hoping most will be ignorant and really believe they are attorneys instead of just a poorly run shoddy collection agency who has no power to collect old debts anyway.

Called 5 times today, 4 times yesterday, no message. They never called before just started calling this week all of a sudden. If it is a debt company they probably just bought a load of new "debts" for pennies on the dollar and are trying to scare people into paying. These companies hire low lifes off the street that can't get a job anywhere else and force them to read a script when the robocall connects. That is why it is always "Jessica" calling
They make their money from deception, intimidation, and manipulation. Get a call blocker, ignore the calls, or if nothing else change your number. If they honestly have something to collect from you they will send you a demand for payment letter. Never give out credit card or personal information over the phone even if they are looking for you. They will take it and scam you into giving up your bank account info so they can empty it out. Just hangup on them and ignore them.
I worked collections for a while. It is all a big scam that should be outlawed.

There is always an a**hole in every bunch....95% of these calls for these companies are wrong numbers...THATS what is frustrating...I pay my bills, yet I have been collection calls, letters and visits by the police looking for this man and it seems he is STILL giving out my phone and address falsely

YEP!  Called them back after receiving 4 calls in just 6 hrs and it WAS for this man...I said he has not lived here in over 8 yrs and she says we just got this Mam.  I said I dont care when you got it, he doesnt live here and I dont want you calling again...or I will report you...so...now I have written confirmation in case I forget the date they were told...and if I hear from them again, I will contact authorities.
