Got the same calls re puppy also said wanted to buy my house. They say they are a DR. i checked the email address they told me to email info to and found it is a scam from Nigeria. Dont give them any info and when they call just say its sold and hang up.

We also rec'd this scam, but for a bedroom set. rec'd a check for $2850, for a $450 ad. Said they would pay an extra $100 to hold until it was picked up. I called the bank (Wachovia Bank in PA) and some one is forging checks from a 75 year old man. They had rec'd 4 calls in two days. Faxed copy of check, outside of UPS overnight envelope and e-mails to the bank. The envelope was sent form Hialeah, FL. We are going to the police dept. in the morning. the e-mail address he gave me was graigwilliams@yahoo.com

I was called 5 TIMES between 5am and 6am this morning from 866-747-7352. I have no clue how they got my number or what they wanted. A woman just kept saying hello every time I asked who she was. I heard typing in the background. After the third call I just let it go to voicemail for the last two calls. It freaked me out that early in the morning.

They claimed to be calling for a deaf or a hard of hearing person. They asked me who is hopping the fence, which is really werid because my status on aim is he is hopping the fence and it tottaly freaked me out and hung up.

I work for the company Sorenson comunications that are placing these calls. We are a relay service for the deaf, and yes unfortunatley we do recieve calls from people abusing our service. I know this is inconvienent to you and it is as well to us. I would just like to let all the people out there reading this that we are goverment funded operations for the deaf and hard of hearing and appologize for any scam and fraud calls you have recieved through our service.

This service is used to make prank calls. I was called twice today and later found out it was someone that I know playing a joke on me and my son. If you receive a call from this service and you don't know anyone that is deaf, hang up.

We are getting calls from this number as well as an email now asking about doing a catering for their mother's birthday. Reported a third party carrier will pick up the job. Have not asked us to do any check cashing or transferring but advised they had their credit card number ready for us. What in the heck is this, it is clearly a scam but without asking us for our info, not sure what they plan to gain. Just an FYI for everyone, they seem to have moved on from animal ads.

This number is Sorenson Communications. They are a relay service for the deaf/hard of hearing. If you do not know anyone deaf, you're better of not taking the call.

Unfortunately, there have been a lot of international scammers posing as deaf users lately. If you're getting calls from them about an ad you placed and they want your email address, DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM! Just tell the operator you believe it is a scam and hang up the phone.

Other calls can sometimes be wrong numbers or maybe you have a jerk friend who is pranking you. You can end the call at anytime, but if the "deaf" person wants to redial, the operator has to do it.

The best and pretty much only way to stop these calls is to contact your sevice provider and have them block the number.

We received a call.  The hearing impaired person requested an auto repair.  He wanted to provide credit card info over the phone.  We were to charge his card for $3500 then keep $500 as a deposit on the job and forward the $3000 to the SHIPPER.
$3000 to tow a vehicle 100 miles.

I got a call from this number asking to buy my car i had posted ad on Vehix.com. First she contacted me by email i provided in the ad then asked for my number and it was for the hearing impaired person. She kept asking me to give her my full name and address in order to send me a check in advance without coming to see the car. she even offered to pay extra $20 for keeping the car until pick up date. Thank god i googled this number before sending any information to this scam. This is SIPRelay.  They are REALLY calling on behalf of a deaf or har-of-hearing person.  People that can't hear can't make phone calls people.  Some people misuse the relay service to scam people and they are trying to crack down on those fraud calls.
But they do still come through.
They do get prank calls.  But what can I say?  Do YOU have the ability to pick up the phone and call someone at 3 in the morning and hang up?  Yes, you do.  Well, they get the same priveleges we hearing people do.  Get the hell over it!!
They do not have a "do not call list" at this company.  So don't try to be put on there.
If they call you, just ask to speak to the Communication Assistant's manager and they may be able to shed some light on the situation for you.

Also, if you are receiving e-mails, just block it.  That is a scam.  That is not Sorenson e-mailing.  That is a scammer.

this is a real call people or atleast a real company for people who are deaf... its called relay what they do is type on line most likely on aim and the relay operater calls you and then reads to you what the other party is saying and types to them what you say... how i know because my friend used to call me on there all the time when i wouldnt answer my phone and he wasnt even deaf but thats what its mainly for deaf or hard of hearing people

i recieved a call from the same number at 9:58pm and 10:18pm the first  phone call they they knew my name and i asked who it was and they told me johnny...i know no johnnys. so i hung up. the second phone call they asked if i wanted to hook up. i asked who it was the lady told me she couldnt tell me shed have to ask the person who they are so she asked and all they said was jk jk. i asked the lady if she could block the person from calling me she said no all i could do is not perticipate. so i just hung up...

So, I understand that some people do not like to use their credit cards over the internet.  I replied to the woman that I would accept a cashier's check or a money order, and once that is received by me and validated I would process her order.  

She wanted my home address...not my post office box, so I knew something was going on.  I contacted my director who informed me of a scam.  I let the lady think I would fall for it so I could get her address and information to contact the authorities.  

So she mailed my "check" via FedEx to the false address I gave her.  I went to FedEx, picked up a FAKE CHECK for $1,800.00.  Her avon order was $240.18.  Of course, she wanted me to cash the check and western union the difference to Latunya Fowler.  The check was written on Mountain Mineral Law Foundation in Westminster, CO.  I contacted them also, and informed them of the scam.  On the check, the "M" in "Mountain" was partially missing and the abbreviation for Colorado was not capitalized.  The paper was cheap as well.

I have been in contact with the authorities, and was told that this fraud ring expands to Florida.  But they're going down now!!!

When she was told that I cashed the check (of course I didn't - it was handed over to the state police) she called my phone 27 times in an hour from 1-866-747-7352 and then she tried scrambling the number to 1-186-674-7735

After she rang my phone off the hook from the 1-866 number, I finally emailed her back that "I know EXACTLY what is going on here, and the cops do as
well."  I never heard back from the scammer.

They are still trying to do the dog scam.  They just tried to call me this morning and left me a message to e-mail pictures of my puppies to them, the e-mail address is dougkjr@gmail.  This is all a scam, and don't ever e-mail any of these people back, I went through this one time before off of one of my litters of puppies, and just them knowing my name and address, they got a hold of our company credit card, and was trying to send water tanks over to africa with it, and also flowers to someone through ftd.  Don't ever e-mail them, or call them back.

I got the call today, but not from the 866 number.  The two numbers were 608-284-5216 and 616-818-7369.  Same sort of deal, they wanted one of my services and were going to give me way over the actual cost.  They wanted to give me a Discover card over the phone.  I asked to talk through email but that is where it stoped, for now.

It is different now, so every deaf/hard of hearing person is REGISTERED and they have their own number, which now also shows up on your caller ID.  It makes it easier to get rid of scammers from the legitimate service.

What they do, is they have a set list of criteria that they use to determine if it's fraud or not.  If they know it's fraud, but nothing on the list comes up, they can't do anything about it.  But for these things on the list to come up, they have to make a call and get far enough with them to do one of those things.

If the relay operator asks you to hang on for longer than 30 seconds, then they have gotten criteria and are waiting for a supervisor to let them know if they can end the call and block them.

Also, if you want this to be faster, so that they are less likely to call you again, just say, "This is Fraud" and wait for 30 seconds.  The scammer will usually tell them to end the call and then the operator has criteria to block them.
