They call and hang up all the time, I want the phone calls to STOP

FYI…TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:  I answered a weird phone call at 8:58 p.m. on 4-10-09.  The caller was very hard to understand because of a heavy accent and I made him repeat who he was twice and with what company, but did not actually have a pen and paper to take the exact comments at the time.  Supposedly it was for a book club order for nonpayment of a book to teach children, but  I explained that I never ordered it and he tried to verify my address and gave something out of state.  I denied it was my address and then told him my correct home address.  He then apologized for the call and agreed to take my name off their call list.  

Then I researched my Caller ID afterwards, and saw where attempts of their calling (with no message left on my answering machine) also came at:  5:58 p.m., 2:55 p.m., & 8:21 a.m. on 4-10-09; at 11:38 a.m. on 4-9-09; 6:41 p.m., 3:39 p.m. & 8:33 a.m. on 4-8-09.  Next I searched the Internet and found something VERY similar which happened nearly two years earlier to someone else, as follows:

Original call came from 866-753-3671, only knew the last name of someone who was supposedly in some kind of book club (Wierd and wild?), and after telling them it was not me and may be someone else in the home they asked me to take down this number, 866-235-3868, and have them call.

Certainly is wierd! Calling from a supposed book club, then asking them to call the number for a collection agency?

The person I spoke to was obviously a foreigner, sounded like a pakistany or iranian, ya know, a "[***]".

My advice from Texas is "when in doubt, check it out!"  So if you ever have that gut feeling, like from a woman's instinct that something just isn’t right, then most likely, it probably isn't. It sort of makes you wonder if your insurance premium is currently kept up if you are about to mess with an ordeal on identify theft.  Keep the phone call brief and keep them on the line long enough to ask them your own questions about who they are and their company name and exactly what fraudulent purchase they are trying to pressure you into agreeing on a payoff amount, and take detailed notes.  It's basically the simple fact of blackmail when they try coercing you into making a payment by extortion.  Report it to the authorities and keep posting more messages like these online, too, in order to help other honest citizens and/or some other poor soul who might not be any wiser and maybe fall for their phishing scam and into a deceptive trap.

So in case you are doing your own Internet research trying to figure out what's going on with 866-753-3671, let’s all band together towards my final step which is to forward this information onto the Government’s website to Report Phishing. US-CERT (United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team) is collecting phishing e-mail messages and web site locations so that we can help people avoid becoming victims of phishing scams.

keeps calling at all hours of the day hangs when answered

i receive 8 to 10 calls from them and when i did call it back. a machine saids that it is a debt collection company and asked to to hold, but i called it back and got no one.

I get calls CONSTANTLY from this number.  When I call back, a guy with an Indian accent, identifies himself as Don Atkins (ooookaaaay) asks for me, I say "she's not in, what is this about", he states it's personal - I ask him about what, he won't say - asks for my husband....no husband for him to talk to...so he hangs up.

I also get these calls. 8:00am and 9:00pm. Just a open line.

i have been getting calls from this number for awhile now on my cell phone no less, i dont answer. but it becomes bother some when they call at all hours of the day. girlfriend gets so upset when they call 4 to 6 times a day.
