- Kevin| 5 repliesThey claim to be AT&T. They are not really AT&T (they are a scam call center in India [no calls during the Diwali holiday]). Verified this with the real AT&T customer service as well as the local AT&T store. They are trying to trick people into divulging their personal info (to “verify” the account), and get them to pay them as opposed to AT&T. I don’t even have an AT&T account, and I never have had an AT&T account.
They also use the following numbers:
628-227-1439
720-637-9702
720-650-4566
719-283-7080
414-285-2117
All ring to the same call center in India.- Caller: Fake AT&T
- Call type: Scam suspicion

Are you having an identity crisis? - Kevin replies to Nimrod| 3 repliesI am not using my real name for obvious reasons.
- B-Edwards replies to Kevin| 2 repliesSo use a nom de voyage, no big deal. But if you stick with one fake name, it helps your comments be perceived as genuine and useful - worth consideration. Switching names and using sock-puppets is troll-like behavior.
- Kevin replies to B-Edwards| 1 reply@B-Edwards - Thanks, that makes sense. I will stick with "Kevin." I am relatively new here and it crossed my mind that the scammers might be reading these posts as well - so I was doing everything possible to obscure my identity. I never thought much about reporting scam/spam calls until the people I reported above started calling me nearly every day. It is particularly disturbing because they are really good at making you think that just maybe they are who they say they are (but I wouldn't have reported it if I hadn't first verified that they were a scam). The scale (judging by the number of different people in their call center whom I have spoken too, and the number of different phone numbers they use), is also quite alarming.
- B-Edwards replies to KevinThanks for the reply. Many of the consistent posters here started in much the same way - they want fewer calls. From there it's easy to get interested in busting and exposing the scams. Two ideas for you:
- Check out our sister site - 800notes.com That site gets more traffic from posts in the US and Canada and has some other resources as well. WhoCallsMe is more international in flavor.
- Register as a User - This allows you to keep a record of the posts you make and answers you may receive. And you can create a your own bitchin' avatar! You register by clicking on the Sign In link on the main page, right above the site name.
