No charitable exempt organization in the United States is subject to the Federal Trade Commission's Telephone Solicitation Regulations relating to the National Do Not Call Registry.
However, to have your name and telephone number placed on our internal Do Not Call List in and for any state in which the Association does a public fundraising drive at any time, even before any first telephone call or contact is ever made, no questions asked, you may call, toll-free, 1-888-665-9359, or reach us in Washington at 202-736-1725, or call the pertinent State Chapter at its telephone number listed on the State Chapters Page, or email us at DoNotCall@Navyvets.org, If you email us, or connect with the Voice Mail and simply say or write: "Do Not Call," your full name (which should be spelled out slowly), and your full telephone number including area code, it will be done. (Takes about 24-72 hours.) It's as simple as that. - TobyJust tell them to go [***] themselves like I did when they kept pressing me for a donation but didn't want to send me the information by mail first.
- Teresa AlbrechtJust got a call from this group. Thank you for the heads' up on the scam. Joanne Wade was a customer service person I spoke with if that helps at all.
- m00kieSeeing as how a scam outfit 'agreed to stop' calling on behalf of the Navy Veterans Association as well as others, it's likely that they are still operating. Telling a criminal enterprise to 'agree' to stop committing crime when it was criminal to start with is a silly expectation. They just pack up and move - it's too profiting.

Keep in mind, with today's technology, one can easily spoof their outgoing number and caller id name - so one shouldn't always get upset with the named company that pops up on your caller id.- Caller: Navy Veterans Association
- Victor BraudGot a call from"ACS on behalf of the United States Navy Veterans' Association" soliciting money.

- gingerI agree this is a scam, and they move around the country. Probably a good way to do their pimping only ask to speak to the man of the house. You know these places are for hire and do not have to record every message.
- ChuckThis is for "JD" and "Scott"
Why is it that no responsible name ever appears in my
caller ID for your organizations? Why is it that no one
answers the phone when picked up or will tell you where
their offices and addresses are? If you are not proud enough
of your organization to put your name on the caller ID and
the above information given out, I still then think you are
a fraud.- Caller: None
- DonI have received several of these calls from this number, but if I don't get it by the second ring, I get a dead call. I know that these are not illegal if they are true charities in Oklahoma, however, any type of Robo calling is. I did get the call on the first ring last night but declined to contribute. I ask him why it was specifically a Navy support Veteran Organization, And why he pronounced it "Vet-trans" instead of Veterans.
Oh well, I believe the call was legit but like most, I don't like my Telephone used as a marketing tool by others. - susieCaller addressed me as Mrs. ______? I said no, he then said he was calling from the Navy Veteran's Association and asked who I was. I hesitated because I wasn't comfortable giving him that information. He very quickly became angry and aggressive, yelling at me that I needed to tell him who I was. I really didn't think that was his business. I am recovering from recent brain surgery and don't need rude people trying to take advantage of me. Before I could figure out what to do or say he hung up.

- SaraAnnoying repeated calls. We don't answer them.
- SarahReceived a call from this number saying that they were the Navy Veterans Assoc. or something rather and I said, "I don't live here" which wasn't a lie because I'm visiting a relative. The guy got angry and yelled "bye". He was very rude.
- Budcalled and said he was from the navy and we didn't respond. phone number was 866-877-2493
- garyI have received calls from these jokers and others and have decided to try something. If I am at the computer, after checking that the caller id number isn't anyone I know, I look it up on google. I have DSL so if you have dial up, it won't work. Just put the number in and don't bother with the dashes. More than likely it will come up with responses like this. Before they go into their rants, I tell them that I have identified this as a scam call and it will be reported. It completly distracts them and sometimes they offer to take me off the list. Yeah, right. I will still look them up when they call again. It is nice to be in control and you can hang up satisfied rather than upset. Try it.
Oh by the way. In an older post, someone mentioned that the CEO's name is "nimitz". If he is refering to Chester Nimitz, he passed on in 1966 so if this organization says he is the CEO, they could at least find someone who is alive. - PhilI have this number blocked. I have call screening. I am currently listed with the National "Do Not Call" Registry. The call from this number still came through AGAIN late Sunday night. These scammers should die a much worse death than cancer. A reward should be put out for them so we could hunt them. There's a job creation idea for Obama. These scammers steal from the elderly or anyone they can get to believe their lies. No different than using a gun to steal. Lock them up, fines aren't working. The fines are a joke. Just a fraction on the millions they're stealing. They'll never stop. JAIL & THEN NEVER ALLOWED TO OWN OR USE AN ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE FOR LIFE. Like not being able to drive after a DUI.
- robillmI have also received this call and was curious about the organization (that's how I found this website) and the response of JD on September 19 made me even more so. First, I went to the US Navy Veterans Association website. There was a lot of info there, but as we all should be aware, unscrupulous people often set up "legitimate" looking sites. So I went to the Better Business Bureau website, which I have often used. Typing in the name of the organization US Navy Veterans Association gave me several addresses with this name, so I instead chose to enter the URL from the site (I do believe this is the site mentionned by JD). According the the BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charities, this organization does not meet one of its 20 standards for charity accountability--Standard 11-Financial Statements. According to the standards, a financial statement must be made available to all who request one (public), but that the charity stated that the audit report was a private document provided to the National Board alone and that it does not provide one to the public (http://www.bbb.org/charity-reviews/national/v ... hington-dc-1708). This can be seen at the above link. This is the only standard though that is not met, the other 19 standards are met. Additionally, I believe that Admiral Chester Nimitz had one son, Chester Jr, and HE had three daughters. Whomever Jack Nimitz is (The charity review states he is a private investment banker), he is not associated directly with the decorated veterans Chester and Chester Jr. I am not saying he isn't related, he could be. I am saying that defending an organization simply because one of its principal officers carries the same last name as a famous decorated war veteran is not adviseable. It DOES appear that this charity is legitimate and does good work, but perhaps they need some more training on their way of soliciting donations. As stated earlier by others, I never donate over the phone and I always check into the charities I do give to. Curiosity satisfied.
