- kat replies to WRONG NUMBERyour best bet is to file a harassment claim with the better business bureau.
- KatAccording to what I have learned from the Better Business Bureau, there is a team of 3 people that buy unpaid debt and then harass people for money. Look them up at the Better Business Bureaus web-site. This team is in Greensboro NC. They have made unauthorized charges to peoples accounts so DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD OR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have a legal right to demand proof of their claims within 30 days from the time they send you the first demand for payment. They don't like it when you that.- Caller: Source Receivables Management

- LeeI believe I got a call from these same people BUT they used a local # for my area....and they didn't leave a message. I always Google a number if I don't recognize it and couldn't find anything for 601-326-1504. They called my C# so I thought I'd pull a fast one on them and called from my Work # (blocked, of course). When the guy answered he didn't, and wouldn't, give a business name.
He was very evasive and asked for the number where the call was received and I gave my work #. He then asked if I was (he gave my name). Without thinking what I was doing I said "yes"...dumb mistake!!!! He said they are a "3rd Party Collector" for NCO and he was calling about a balance on a Premier Bank card and said he was authorized by NCO to offer a one-time settlement. When I told him I wasn't in the financial situation to do it TODAY, he asked about setting up drafts for 2 equal payments to come out at a later date...NOT!!! DON'T EVER GIVE ANYONE ANY ACCOUNT INFORMATION!!!
I told him I also work in Collections and pretty much know the drill. He proceeded to say, "Then you know what you've told me sounds good to you and makes you feel better about yourself, but you and I both know you have no intention of paying on this since you haven't done so in 2 years. If you were going to pay this you would already have done so... WHO IS HE TO MAKE A JUDGMENT ABOUT ME??? I know that, according to the Fair Debt Collection Act, this is not legal.
The guy was very rude and had a very "snooty" attitude...you could almost hear the smirk when he was talking. He was very unprofessional & did his best to belittle me...it didn't work because I'm fixing to fight back!!!!
I tried calling the number this evening around 5:45...it rings twice, then NOTHING...kinda makes me wonder about their "sneaky tactics". They get a number to trap someone, then disconnect it? This sounds illegal to me...a collector must identify themselves and the company they represent. He sort of did but I believe they're not supposed to use "untraceable" numbers to "trap" people.
I think I'm going to call NCO to check these people out.- Caller: Unknown

- CapZThese people have been calling me demanding payment on an ATT account that has been settled. The guy I talked too was very rude and when I told him if Source RM reports any negative info to any of the 3 credit bureau's I would report them to the FTC, state attorney generals office and the BBB and then sue them. He then asked how I could afford an attorney to sue! After reading all the comments, I think I will write letters to the FTC and BBB regarding these shady people!

- Unknown replies to Billy Anderson| 4 repliesI got a letter as well for Sprint which is for an old phone that was issued through my old employer and I turned my phone over to them. I received numerous bills from Sprint in my old employers name but to my address. Now I am receiving this letter, I called and they asked for acct number on letter and I gave it to the person then she said well this is a debt we are collecting for Sprint. When I informed her that it was for my old employer she said "I doubt it, this is your debt" I said may I speak to your manager she said "No, like I told you this is your's so just Pay your bills" and then she hung up on me. I called back and asked who was the person that this account logs as last person who logged account and they said a "Ms Andrews". I am writing a dispute letter as well as a letter to the FDCA to advise them of Source Receivable Management actions and manner of handling accounts. Collections agencies have gotten away from harrassment and all tha told style of handling collectiosn. I know because I worked for a large call center in the collection department and they did not tolerate incoming calls in this manner.
- sameboataz replies to very annoyedI was receiving these harrassing phone calls daily from a local number, however they did have the original creditor, but they were unable to keep their word and send me a bill. I used to work for a collections agency and I know they are allowed to leave a message and call back no less than 48 hours later. However, if they speak to you they cannot call for 7 days. This company is mean and nasty, they abbreviate and say SRM. I then called the original creditor who transferred me to Genesis Financial who then transferred me to NCO. NCO says they dont have my account. I tried asking for a mailing address from SRM, but like I said they are nasty, and I only think they have 3 people working. Because they refuse to give me a supervisor, and the same 3 people keep answering the phone. Being that they call from a local number and not an 800 of any sort, I am only able to call them back on my cel. Which they put in their system, now they are calling me on that. I am just confused, how can a business not have a mailing address??? The number im getting on my phone is 602-218-5854 or 5856.
- MoNCO Financial is a fraudulent company. They once asked me to make a payment and I asked for a payoff letter before I gave them my bank info. They became irate and tried to guilt me into paying. Later on in the week they called me and told me that the "check" bounced. I told them I did not give them permission to post a check and they threatened me with a claim that what I did was a felony. I hung up on them. Afterwards I realized I never gave them my account number and they lied outright to me.
When dealing with them tell them that you want proof of the debt. Get their address and send them a cease and desist letter for the phone calls that way you have something to take to court against them (you can probably find one online) let them contact you by mail. Do not pay them. They purchased your debt, if any, at a fraction of the cost. If they do agree, in writing, to remove the entry place on your credit record then do not pay. Even if you do pay don't pay the full amount. They purchase your debt at a fraction of the price so why should you pay full price for scammers? These are my opinions and experiences

- UNKNOWN BECZ EMBARRASSED replies to Unknown| 3 repliesHow come when unknown doesn't pay his bills on time it is everyone else's fault...instead of paying the Sprint phone bill he owes ...he decides he doesn't like the people collecting it because they didn't treat him like a person who doesn't owe a debt....Simple way to fix these calls...pay your bills!!!!
- Sammie Jo replies to UNKNOWN BECZ EMBARRASSEDregardless of whether a person owes a bill or not, it doesn't entitle anyone to be harrassed by a collector.
I just got a call from them today, on a bill that is over 7 years old and belonged to my ex husband who is now dead.
First of all, most states have "time bar" laws, in Texas it is 4 years, after 4 years, they cannot sue you or do anything to you except pester you.
Detail every call, name, time, date, conversation, taping is best, then when you have enough material, get a lawyer.
I did this with NCO, another debt by my ex, they impersonated an officer of the court and left the message on my machine. I I sued, and won $30,000.00
Best way to sue is to get a lawyer who works on contingency.
In Texas, I used Dean Malone out of Dallas
Mr.Malone recently won a $1.7 award for a man who was verbally abused by a collector.
Just for the record, once a company turns a debt over to a collector, no way would I pay it, I owe the company, not the collector.

I hope they keep calling me back, I'll keep a record, and eventually they will get rude, and Mr Malone will be contacted. - Richard Garriot replies to UNKNOWN BECZ EMBARRASSEDThe issue here is that the company I worked for owes the debt. I don't. I called the organization to let them know that the organization needed to be contacted and I was told that I used the phone for personal use and that I owed the debt. WHAT?! That makes no sense - I was an employee of the company and was issued a phone for work use. The people at SRM are hostile and manipulative, I called to give them information about the organization and they turned on me and wanted me to pay off the debt. Wrong, wrong, wrong - this is right and it seems like tons of other folks have had the same kind of conversations with this company. I'm sure there are consumer protection and fraud laws that this collections agency is breaking.
- MarcusI've experienced all of the above - the hospital they are supposedly collecting for shows no debt - these folks need to be shut down based on what I have read - my concern is what they can do to one's credit rating?

- no namesI've been getting phone calls from these people everyday. I called them back and asked for the company name and was immediately hung up on. My brother then called them and asked why our house was getting phone calls and they woman gave him the company name. SRM. Then he asked for the woman's name so he could keep a record of everything and she hung up on him too. They won't stop calling but they won't give me any information about why they are calling. I checked my credit scores and there's nothing negative on them. I only have one bill a month and it's always paid for. The one time it was late I called and let them know it would be two days late and they left a note in my file so I wouldn't have any late fees. How do I get them to leave me alone when I can't even get an answer for why they are calling?

- SuspiciousJust received a call from Source Receivable Management saying that they are collecting $$ for Excel Communications which dates back to 1997! I got all the info. from them and then immediately contacted Excel only to find that there is no acct. under the number that I was given. We had been with Excel over 12 years ago but had always paid our bills so was suspicious right from the beginning. When I called SRM back to get more info., they asked for my current phone number. I said I wasn't going to give it to them so the woman said, "Well, then I can't help you." and then proceeded to hang up on me. Assuming this is a huge scam and not going to waste any more time over it. Just wanted others to know and to do the same!! God Bless!

- LiissalSourcerm has called my home and now is calling my work number! I took care of all my bills years ago! All was charged off, but I contacted the agencies who purchased the charged off bills and paid them all off. I have a credit score of close to 800 and my credit shows pay on time, never late. Different from what you all say is that I have called this number to stop the calls and have never reached anyone to correct their error. I carried insurance on all my credit cards. Jack Winters the clothing factory here closed the factory and moved overseas. I let the credit cards know this. When I started working were I am now, even though I had credit card insurance I still paid them all off. I owe no old bills and pay all current bills over minimum payment required.

- E.JamesI have had trouble with Source Receivables Management since I moved back to my hometown and got my new phone #. They are looking for someone, and I am not him. I have asked repeatedly to have my number removed from their call list;their response was to start blocking their number so caller I.D. would not pick it up. I went back through my old phone records and pulled it out.Called them immediately and filed what I thought was a formal complaint. It did no good. The calls started again within 3 days. When I filed what I thought was a complaint I informed that my next action would be to contact my state Atty. General. I am mailing this complaint today. I have asked for a written letter of apology, and the guarantee that my number be removed from their records. Also that the Atty. Gen. seek any and all legal remedies at his disposal. My bills are paid each month in full and on time. It is not my fault that deadbeats are alive and well. Thank you for allowing me a forum to vent.[ P.S. this collection agency has class action lawsuits against them in several states if you are being harassed you should check to see if you qualify to join in your state.]

- njI've been receiving recorded calls from this number, asking for a woman I've never heard of. I've tried calling a few times, months apart, to have my phone number removed. They never do it. Nor will they identify the name of their company. I'm tired of these CRIMINALS (good luck suing me for libel if you can identify me) harrassing me without any just case, After all, I don't owe them any money!

- AnonymI received an automated message from this company as well yesterday. Called back this am to investigate. Mr Aaron Simpson proceeds to tell me I owe a gas company from another state I lived in 6 YEARS ago over $200. He asked how we were gonna take care of this. My reply "it won't be today...will have to be the first of the year. " He asks why and explained it's Christmas time I don't have an extra 200 laying around. He then asks me to put it on a credit card so I won't have to pay it for 30 days. My response is I haven't done credit cards in over ten years. They get you in trouble and if you can't pay for it now you don't need it. Here's where it gets comical...all of sudden his whole demeanor changes and starts raising his voice. Telling me I don't have a credit card because my credits bad and I can't get. How I'm a low life and all this crap...that's where I proceeded to hang up before I got recorded being VERY nasty!
I guess what I'm trying to figure out is...why am I being treated this way? Why are these people allowed to speak to us this way? Doesn't seem right. I work full time...a job where I save lives everyday, I pay my taxes, I try to pay all my bills, and I treat people right. Yet I'm being judged by some POS in another state for some bill from 2005 that nobody has thought to clue me in about before now?!?!?! This country is going to SH$t!!! Bet he won't show up at my house...knock on my door...and then tell me how worthless I am!
