Got a call from this number at 3pm today saying they were the IRS and that I owed taxes. He was able to tell me my address, that 35 notices had been sent to that address, and then asked for my Social Security number. When I wouldn't give it, he threatened me that I would be arrested by the police.

They are saying that there from the IRS and want me to call them back. This is the second call I had from these hard to dear people

it wasnt an irs agent for me. claiming to be an officer this time.

Received 2 calls one that the caller ID read Washington DC and the next day this 866 #. As stated in other complaints all had Indian (heavy) accents.  

1st call man yelled at me when I refused to give him information and he demanded my name. (I have NO TAX issues, therefore I was positive it was a scam from the 1st second). I hung up telling him not to harass me.

I called back and ask who I was speaking with and was told Officer Gabriel Sanchez, then I asked What department in the IRS was I speaking with and he said the Criminal Investigation Dept. Started demanding my name, I kept asking questions, where were they located? He told me to get a pen & paper, informed him I had pen & paper in hand.

He wanted my name and I stated I had just read all over the internet about their tax scam and was going to report it to the IRS, the US Attorney General & my State Attorney General.

He hung up.  

Have had repeated phone calls from a heavily accented woman informing me that if myself or my lawyer doesn't contact her that "she can't help me" and she wishes me the best of luck if I ignore her. I am not a child, therefore I think she is an idiot for thinking these threats work.

I've been called by this number now 3 times in the last week.  Always get the same message from the woman that sounds like she's from India.  The veiled threat at the end is hilarious.  "If you do not return my call and I don't hear from your attorney either than all  I can do is wish you good luck and something about a curse on my family."

Called me 3 times today with a middle eastern accent, saying they are IRS and need all this info.  Scam because IRS doesn't call.  Please find these people and get them

There still at it. I've been called by these scammers many times now in the last few weeks.  They use different numbers.  This must be one of the most active though.

I just got a call from 866-978-5981 with an Indian accent impersonating  an IRS agent.  He even faked the transfer to his senior boss so he can pick up the same line. What the hell is this all about.  How stupid can they be to think they can pass as IRS agents. They must think we were born yesterday.

I got the call today, the same thing. Letters in May, and they would have me arrested

I just keep calling them back. Use *67 call them back when they ask for your number tell them.you should know it u r the irs   they guy swore at me and hung up.  Its fun calling them back.  I confused the guy to asked him two quick qu   the last qu was is this a scam he said yes lol.

Have received threatening calls.  Claims to be IRS - heavily accented female telling me to get an attorney or things will happen

Lol not only are they hiring people from india, but i didnt realize rebecca jones and william turner were indian names.

They called me and told me if I didn't pay bad fortune would unfold on me. I caused them up n down calling them a few choice names and they hung up on me! This is on the news tonight! [***]!!!

Called...said they were with Ga Power and that they had a truck on their way to cut off the power. It is important to have the owner call back. I asked what number to call them back at...he said 866-978-5981 but called from 888-431-1897. I asked his name...he said michael Martinez...he had a heavy Spaninsh accent.

This number is now calling AT&T cell phones claiming AT&T needs more information on your account and asking for personal information.  Don't give it.  I verified through AT&T that this is a fraud and they have reported it to their fraud unit.
