They call and hang up...I found this site. I called and they hung up 3 times then answered saying verizon wireless. I told the man to put me on the DNC list effective immediately as they've been calling and hanging up on me for a month now and its a violation to my rights and he apologized and said he'd put me on the dnc list right away. He first asked me for my number and I said that he has it...which he repeated back to me. How disappointed I am with verizon for this behavior and scam!

If you want them to stop calling you, you have to specifically ask them to put you on the do not call list. If you do actually listen to the disclosure read, it says it can take up to 30 days to complete the process. They can take it off later that same day but you have to let them know that you specifically want that done.

As far as them asking for your number, there's a couple of different reasons for that. They can only see the number you're calling from, which may or may not be your VZW cell number. Or you can be calling from your cell, but they may have been calling regarding a different number under your name. They usually call the primary contact number on the account, which for a lot of people is a house or job phone number.

And then lastly, the reason they call before your actual contract is up is because you normally qualify for your phone upgrade (NE2) 4 months before you contract ends, but with them you qualify 6 months before your contract ends. They are also the only ones that can offer the free bonus minutes every month for renewing if you didn't want to upgrade your cell yet or do it in the store.

I hope that answers some questions!

It is illegal for the telemarketers to contact us through cell phone. Therefore, what these people do is to call us and then hang up, trying to make us call them and sale their services to us this this way. It is a trick basically.

I keep getting this call so I googled it and found this site. I called back just now and they said that they're offering 100 extra free minutes and early upgrade if you renew your contract. I said no thanks I'm going to ATT and he quickly ended the call. HAHA.

I received a call from 1 866-997-2588 at 7PM on a Saturday night.  That is an odd time to get a marketing call. Since I did not answer and there is no message I looked up the number online and found many other similar reports.

Called this number back. It was indeed Verizon wireless wanting me to renew my contract. However, I renewed it a month ago. They called about 3 times a day for a week, and never left a message.

I also just got a call, returned the call and they claimed to be from Verizon.  They immediately asked for my last four of my SSN, and I didn't feel comfortable with that, so they told me to stop by a VZW store isntead.  It's suspect in my opinion.

Glad to know that this can best be ignored. I should probably be reported to the FTC and FCC.

Okay, lets clear a few things up. This number belongs to TMC. We have been hired by a company called Kipany who has been hired by Verizon Wireless to assist their customers in renewing their agreements and in return offering one of the promotions at the time. The promotions could be a free month, extra minutes, discounted phones, etc...
It is not illegal for us to call you, even if you are on the national do not call list. You have a relationship with Verizon Wireless and have given them the best number to contact you when you signed up for your service.
There are no tricks or scams We are simply making you aware of what  you are eligible for, thats it.
The calls are placed thru an auto dialer. When it calls it does not know your schedule. It doesn't know if you are at dinner or work, it doesn't know if you are in the car or at home. Its just doing what it was programmed to do.
If you do call us back, we have to have some way to verify who we are speaking with, this is why we ask for the last four of the social. We have it in front of us, but thats all we have. We do not have the whole social there. If you would like to place a password on your account customer service can assist you with that and we can verify that instead of the last four of your ssn.
