I received a text message from this number claiming to be Service Canada and that my benefit payments have been put on hold due to a discrepancy in my income tax filing. They are asking you to to confirm a few details by going to https://pdcanada.com or calling 1-800-959-8281 the phone number given is not the correct phone number for service Canada, and the website is a .com website whereas government of Canada website are .ca
    • Caller: Not Service canada

Hmmm...the website using .com does not exist.  Attempts to access the site get the usual "cannot find this site" and "having trouble finding this site, depending on the search engine I used.  Call back to this 873 number gets, "Thank you for calling the Canada Revenue Agency's Individual Tax Inquiry Services."  It then gives the same message in French.  The number (800-959-8281) IS the published number for individual tax inquiries.  Here's the web page:
    https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corpo ... iries-line.html
    Taken from that page:

You can still sign up for or update your direct deposit:

       By mail

How to sign up for or update your direct deposit

Call 1-800-959-8281 to get tax information for individuals.

Call this number for information and assistance with electronic services for individuals such as My Account, NETFILE and Represent a Client.
Of course it is still possible that someone is spoofing the number but it behooves you to call the published number or visit the valid website to determine if there is in fact a problem with your account.
