It's a scammer claiming to be from Capital One.  They tried calling me but I call Capital One directly and they confirmed the phone number is not one of theirs and there was no record of anyone trying to call me regarding a "recent inquiry".

Capital one bank escalation team called I hung up and called capital one through the app they vetoed the phone call was legit

I got that call yesterday from 877-215-8591, 2/7/2025, guy said he was from capital 1 on a recorded line, as I don't trust anything these days, I didn't proceed with the call, he did not tell me what department he was calling from, and said before he can go further he needs to verify me, I told him " you called me, you must know who I am" well I ended call, and called cap 1 at a 800# I have, the lady said it was a legit # but scammers know how to make it appear on your phone, along with capital one heading. She said just because it looks legit, it could still be fraud. Cap 1 has never ever called me till yesterday, and I been a customer since 2008
