An unsolicited call from Royal Bank of Canada. They call several times a day.

They say they are royal bank.  Maybe they are, maybe not

they say they are royal bank.  the automated called asks you for your personal information to verify if they want to talk to you.   would RBC  do that ?  I think its a scam
worried in surrey, b.c.

I call their security to alert them about the call.  I found out that this is their collection  dept.  I was 10 days late to pay a total balance of $43.00.  I have had this card for over 30 years with a credit limit over $15,000.00
The call was to warn me about their intent to to put a black mark on my credit rating!!!!!

OUTRAGED IS AN UNDERSTATMENT

I started getting calls yesterday (Nov 4/2013) and more today... Same thing... Saying from Royal Bank with "important message regarding banking" confirming my Name and press 1... Followed by asking for personal info... Seems REALLY sketchy so I hung up followed by repeated calls... I called RBC at their Royal 1-1 number and they confirmed it was an RBC Robo-Caller and the "important messages" were in regards to product & service offers. I was really annoyed and demanded that this "feature" as they call it be turned off. They said they did. We'll see if the telemarketing continues. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN RBC SALES TACTICS right now. Booooo.

I just spoke with a representative of RBC by calling their collections department's number (1-866-893-3295) which was supplied by an operator contacted through the main number (1-800-769-2511) listed on their site. Both were able to confirm that it is a collections number. The person in collections was regrettably rather dull-witted and unable to see why (1) having the call prompt clients for personal information without an option to talk with an operator and (2) having their number listed as a phishing scam all over the internet are bad things. I did manage to get transferred with someone at customer care who at least made note of the situation.

To all those who are being contacted, yes it is laughably incompetent on the part of the Royal Bank to model their contact with clients in such a way that it seems so transparently like a fishing scam, but it is just their collections department trying to give you a courtesy call. (In my case, they were letting me know that, in switching Visa cards, I had forgotten to transfer funds to my old Visa to cover a cell phone bill that arrived in the middle of the card switch.)

My advice is not to take my word, or the word of anyone else on an internet forum for this (after all, any scammer could post here anonymously, claiming that the number is legit), but to look up their contact number on Google and get back to them. Make sure to provide them feedback and let them know that modeling their client interaction on phishing and subsequently getting their collections number listed all over the internet as a scam is probably a bad idea.

They left me a message to call when I call them they ask for my bank card number.. I was like are not able to pull up that information when I provide you
The collection operator is like it will take him 30 mins ??!? Wtf????

i answered the phone and the automated voice said that it was the royal bank and that this call is for kim thorne for a personal matter and if this is her to press a number on the phone to get the message so i did then i was asked to answer  some security questions to verify my identity  the first questions mentioned was my birthday. i got concerned and i hung up but i am worried should i ignore it or what i am worried. please help. i called back the number  that called me the same message that i heard when i was called  was what i heard when i called that number back.

Yup... what everyone said was right.. it is RBC.

getting a call from this number often it's so annoying .'saying its RBC and asking to enter DOB etc. Why would RBC call to ask you to enter your DOB??? They are calling don't they hVe that info BTW it's a machine. Which seems like a fake fraud. +1 (877) 216-5027

Got a automated message on my answering machine today, it's also leaving me a Montreal address to write, making a legitimate call. Called Rbc today to confirm.

they are scammers  looking for some kind of investment

It's RBC's collections department, However it is an automated message, so to be safe i would advise anyone receiving calls from this number to contact RBC through the numbers listed on their official site and have them redirect you to the collections dept.

Recording from this number tells me to call  866-893-3295 regarding a personal banking matter with RBC.  They also provided a mailing address in Montreal but it is just a PO box.  Even though they said so, I know it's not RBC but it's unnerving how they have my full name and annoying that they keep calling.  My full name is not registered with that number anywhere so how did they get all this information?

If you tell them you're going to call the police if they ever call you again, they won't call you back 👍

Don't answer such anonymous calls.
On another search site, many recent comments claim fake RBC . Calls from banks always show id.
