It is called the statute of limitations on debt.  Learn how to stop debt "re-aging", which is when your debt is sold repeatedly to other companies.  Go to FTC.gov and you can find all the info you need.  Takard Group calls and states "at least you could have the decency to call us back".  This happen twice, so I did call them back.  I did call them back, when I asked her name and the company that she represented, she became very rude.  Then I told her to never, ever call this number again.They were looking for someone I have never heard of.  Statutes of limitations vary from state to state, but you can find out what applies to your state at this website.  To instantly stop re-aging calls, request a validation of debt.  Tell them to stop calling.  Apparently, this is the magic phrase "validation of debt",  Of course this only works when you debt has met the statutes or they are calling the wrong person.  All this info, and more, is available at FTC.gov.  You can also register for the National Do Not Call List.  If you have registered before, moved, and changed phone numbers, do it again.  There is also a link on their site for the only actually free annual credit report.  If you contact free credit report, or any similar companies, they will will will rope you into all kinds of stuff that you have to pay for.  They tell you that you can cancel within 30 days and not be charged, however they will not mention that they have enrolled you in several costly programs, the names only revealed when you get the charge on your bank statement.  Stay far away from these companies.  It is a mess to clear up.  Trust me.  You can also file a formal complaint against a debt collection agency at this site.  If you have been denied credit you can get an additional credit report at no charge but you have to send the denial for credit to all three major credit reporting agencies.  Please visit FTC.gov and find out what kinds of free help you can get, and find out what your rights are.
