Got mail from "Negotiations Dept." Yeah? And? -- Negotiations Dept. of what company? Letter said to call 1-877-280-9446 because I may be entitled to settlement of outstanding balance, and that "failure to respond" may result in higher interest rates and penalties. (Sounds almost like a threat to a person who's not wise to such tactics.) So I think I'll pass on this offer. How legit can a company be when they won't even identify who they are on the letterhead?

Received a letter from this "company" which stated very generically that I owed money to one of 10 different credit card companies. The letter  had no company information only a phone number to call. I called the number listed and was told the company name was "Consumer Services." I asked for identifying information about the company was told they wouldn't provide me any additional information until I gave them the Notice Number on the letter. This is clearly fraudulent.

I got the same letter as the one that NF and AW are referring to above. No return address to even validate the debt they are claiming. Scam.

I got a letter saying I owe $25,000 and they would settle. I don't have a $25,000 debt. No company name, just a phone number. I called and the lady said her name was Natalie and she was with the Debt Collection Dept. I asked for the company name and she immediately said it again. I once again asked for the company name and she told me not to get ugly with her. I told her all I did was ask for the company name and she said she could tell by the tone of my voice I was rude. She would never tell me the name of the company so I told her this was a scam and hung up.
