    Received a message from Wells Fargo regarding activating our new debit card. We have no account with them, so I ignored it. About a week later, Wells Fargo called again, this time it was a live person. Apparently they were trying to reach the person who used to have our phone number. We've lived here for almost 20 years, so those records must be really outdated!

    If they have your SSN, definitely!  It means someone fraudulently opened an account on your name.
    You should also call the 3 credit reporting agencies - Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union to protect your identity.
