Claimed to be calling from Synchrony Bank about a Walmart credit card application my husband applied for.  My husband would rather shoot himself in the foot than open a credit card account. I told her he did not apply for it but she claimed he needed to call her back at a different number to tell her that himself. I told her they’ve been forewarned and if they give it, it won’t be paid and hung up. This isn’t how credit cards are issued and was total bs.

They don't read this, so this message is a waste.

Just got a new number due to verbal threat from someone I know.  This person called for my boyfriends full name.  I did apply for a credit card for him last night online from Walmart site through Synchrony Bank.  Didn't know who was calling & wasn't staying on the phone long enough to ask. Only had this new number for 3 weeks.  Said they had the wrong number and the man apologized.  I did one myself online and never had this problem.

This number keeps calling me. I never answer and they finally left a message to call back. Turned out it from a bank I had never heard of, for a couple that wasnt us. I tried to tell them, but they informed me they were a debt collector and would get their money. They would not listen when I told them we weren't the people they asked for. I called the FTC and reported them. They still call for this couple. I will keep reporting as it's a $1500 fine for each call they make.

Where did you get that idea?  It is not a $1500 fine for each call they make.  There is no law that regulates original creditors so the FDCPA, which has a statutory limit of $1000 regardless of the number of violations does not cover it.  The FTC does not fine that way either.  Try not to repeat things you hear without first verifying it.
