This is from Mendenhall & Associates in Orlando. Debt collectors. I informed them that I did not owe this debt that I never had the computer they were talking about and told them that any other discussion about this should be by letter. He also said a debt validation letter was sent and I didnt respond in 30 days. I said I never got a letter from them and never signed for anything. He asked me if I got the letter what would I have done? I told him I would have disputed it.He then went on to give me my payment options.  I again said I did not purchase this item. Options were $568.00 over 12 months totaling $6784. or lump sum payment of $3965.  For a computer. Total owed $13,521. I laughed and told him I do not send money to people I am talking to over the phone just because they ask for it.
We went on for several minutes and I asked him when the contract started and when the last payment was made. He said started April 2001 last payment Nov 2003.  This makes the debt past the Statute of Limitations and he legally cannot collect this anyway. A court would dismiss the case.
Another thing--when he started thereatening and harrassing me with court and such I told him I was going to tape the conversation. He did not want that.  I also asked for the companys name and address. He said what did I need that for.  I told him I had a legal right to know who I was talking to and who was trying to get money. His final words were "see you in court". I considered this a threat and immediately mailed a "Cease and Desist Letter" and a "Statute of Limitations" letter and sent them certified mail-return receipt requested. They are allowed to threaten or harrass you.

that same company got my mother for 800 dollars.

Actually statutes of limitations begin when the account is discharged.  And it's funny you said it's not yours, but are elated to find you don't have to pay?

Apparently, in my personal opinion, these people are scammers and liars.  
At the very least, they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act, and I encourage anybody who is being hounded by these people to contact their state's attorney general to report for possible prosecution.  There are heavy fines that can be levied upon this company (if it really is one) and its employees for this type of behavior.  Monies can also be collected on behalf of the victims of these practices.  Unscrupulous scammers/collectors should be shut down and penalized.

SCAMMERS! Someone called a distant relative in another state from Mendhall and Assoc. from (877) 605-5414 claiming they had papers to serve. They asked for personal information, but gave no further information. They sound like they are fishing for personal information for identity theft. BEWARE!

These are the same people!!!!! They already have multiple lawsuits!!!!!

Fl Sec. of State lists Mendenhall & Associates, Inc., principal address at 5726 Old Cheney Hwy, Orlando Fl 32807, with Merrill T. Miller its registered agent at that address, and Richard T. Pugh its president; also uses mailing address of 5732 Old Cheney Hwy, Orlando. These people have someone call from caller ID 918-248-0064 to state that they are calling to tell you that they (process server) are going to serve papers "tomorrow" unless you call 877-605-5414 to make arrangements to pay your debt. Don't try to call 918-248-0064 back. that is an Oklahoma number which is always busy. Even if you owe the debt, these people are violating enough laws in their collection practices that you would probably have counterclaims way beyond the debt. If you do call 877-605-5414 to find out what debt they are alleging, don't be bullied, ask a lot of questions, let them make their threats, get the name of the person that you are talking to, and write everything down that they say. If they lie about the status of any debt or law suit (and they probably will) they can be held responsible for that. Contact an attorney who is familiar with these types of operations. You may be able to recover from these people under federal and state laws, with them paying your costs.
