I contacted Wells Fargo and this is a legit number, it is the overdraft department. No matter what, with the times we are living in, I too would be concerned about certain toll free calls. Be afraid, be very careful and afraid.

They will call non-stop, if you owe them money.

I recieve these call everyday but they dont leave no message. I call the number back and it says welcome to wells Fargo. If it is wells Fargo why dont they leave a message when they call.

Got a call from this number today. As I do with all 1888. 1877 numbers i answer saying this phone call is be recorded in this end also after they tell me they are. This is the first so called company to say they do not give permission to record this conversation. Odd because if this is wells Fargo they are very secretive. I bank with chase and they do not mind when I dealt with them neither did capital 1 when I was the victim of identity theft.

This is a MirscoSoft Scam about your computer. Trying to get you to give them access to your computer to get your information.  I just got my computer out of shop and got this call from them about saying that my computer was infected. I  reported them to the BBB and they told me it was a scam. Don't answer.

I too have been receiving calls from this number for over a year (which I have blocked) every day, 7 days a week, 1-3 times a day. I had already called the number previously & discovered it was Wells Fargo but I've never done any business with them.  Last week, they started going to my v-mail & the automated voice asked if I need to add funds to my account press #1. Yesterday I actually answered the call & it was automated asking if I would receive a collect call from an inmate at a county jail.  Of course, I hung up b/c I had no reason to take the call.  Apparently, the 'accounts' of inmates go through Wells Fargo to fund their phone privileges?

I'd refer to a lawyer to sue Wellsfargo for non stop calls. But the lawyer researcher the number and told me that number is a SCAM! Instructed me not to give any information to them. They are not part of Wellsfargo or any collection agency.

This number calls my new landline at least five times a day. One day I did answer it, and spoke jibberish to then. The guy said he was from Wells Fargo then I hung up. It's been years since I banked with W.F., and I closed my account in good standing. These people are scammers. They never leave messages either. They are just like those fake IRS final notice people... don't give them ANY of your personal info. Ask them to mail you the information instead. I bet you will never get it.
And as for that Sarah31, how is it you know so much about this issue? You seem to have gone to great lengths to defend this bogus number.

Yeah, as someone who previously worked there, I can assure you all this is not a scam. We are trying to tell you about your overdrawn account. So being rude to us and screaming at us is not helping you. We are trying to find ways to help you get it all taken care of, your debt which you made yourself. So if it's a wrong number and you don't have an account, just call the number tell them your phone number that keeps getting called and ask them to remove it. It's really not that hard. We can't leave messages on your phone because we aren't allowed to (and so we don't give out information to the wrong party). If you still are suspicious, go to the branch and have the banker call the overdraft department and ask for the customer friendly number. We type your info into our system and then guess what we do with it after the call? Nothing. We take the next call.

You're going to have to excuse me, but when they manipulate your transactions to their advantage, it's not anyone's fault.

I've gotten 4 calls today from this number. I don't pick up if I don't know who it is.

I hate when people give the its all your fault speech and pay all those debts..guess they never had their identity stolen or the bank never ever makes a mistake. Nobody asked for your speech...nobody is perfect.

Oh and if its already went to 3rd party collections you might as well not pay a single penny. Every time you make any payment your statute of limitations resets to day 1. Making any pymt to them will not noticeably help your credit. Unless you really owe then its a your own personal dilemma.

Did you have an account with Wachovia? I started with an account at Wachovia and they changed to Wells Fargo, so maybe if you had one before the change and it was closed because of the kind of issues being talked about here and never resolved so there is an account in your name that has been overdrawn and closed because of it then I would bet that is why they are calling. I settled my account with them over this matter but they still call me several times a day, something within 5 minutes of each other, especially if i can't answer which is when they usually call and i have to send them right to voice mail
