- Kate| 1 replyA lady's voice said it was PGE . She said to call 877-660-6789 and select the option to: validate my energy account and I would need my account number to do this. This sounds like it is PHISHING.
- Caller: PGE (presumed)
- Mrs PThis is a legitimate PG&E phone number. PG&E calls from this phone number when you register your account online. They call to verify that the account holder actually performed the new registration online. I confirmed this with PG&E.
- Caller: PG&E
- Rick R replies to KateThank you for looking out for us. However, I received a similar phone call and called PG&E customer service who verified the number as legitimate. It is actually, as Mrs P says, an added safety measure by PG&E to insure that no one else is setting up an online account using your information. Although, if you haven't recently set up an online PG&E account, you may have reason to worry.
- DjcI never answer calls from numbers not in my contact list. I have a Bay Area phone number but I don't live in PGE area and am not a customer. Obviously a scam call.

- sonoma residentTHIS IS A SCAM!!!!! They said they were going to shut off power for non-payment. We have autopay so I knew we are up-to-date. I checked PGE and we are, in fact, up-to-date. Do not trust the posters above. They are completely anonymous and could be posts from the scammers themselves.

- MCDThis is a scam. Caller claimed he was from PG&E, that my bill was past due from June (5 months ago) and that crew was on the way to disconnect. I knew this was obviously not true and asked that he verify the service address. When he provided my address, (a bit disconcerting he knew this) I told him I would talk to the person coming to disconnect. He then thanked me and hung up. I assume they will try and get you to pay the "past due" amount over the phone with iTunes cards or something similar. I did just sign up for the online account and wonder if this is somehow connected to that.
