got my 14th call in 8 days from this organization:  www.mdscom.com. I signed up on their do not call list. Hope it works. ...... It is a fund raising organization not subject to "do not call". Represents what it calls "good stewardship" organizations like Bible League, Salvation Army, Catholic Relief Services (please just give directly to this one!!) and perhaps most importantly, the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE. I guess if your a republican it's a good stewardship organization but I don't think it's in the same class as Catholic Relief Services or Salvation Army or VFW

This is a caller for a non-profit organization--ACLJ.  American Center for Law & Justice whose chief council is Jay Sekulow.   I fully support them but getting calls from 877 numbers are always un-nerving.

Here we go again. These call firms are relentless. I ask all of you out there one question:  how are we supposed to separate the scams and evil from the honest charities? Americans are among the most generous people on our planet, but in the last eight or nine years, things have headed down hill. Every a--hole is now calling everyone to scam them. If you are a legit charity, please contact your representative or senator and ask them to legislate new laws to give honest charities clearance to call us, and all others to be denied. MDS, you just don't get it. With caller ID, no one is picking up anymore. Everyone is sick of one maggot or scum sucker after another invading their privacy. Maybe you are part of the problem? Or the solution? YOU ARE NOW BLOCKED!!!

Thank to those who posted to this thread. And thanks to MDS which, unlike several other firms calling recently, have a Do Not Call list contact point.

Thanks especially to Ray for the DNC form.

    I hope this works.

Every day this number rings at my business office # and no one is on the line.  It just hangs up upon answering.  This is extremely annoying since I am usually anticipating receiving important calls and this is just a waste of time and productivity.  Please put my # on the "Do Not Call" list immediately.

Got a few from this number - said they were representing St. Jude's Hospital.  Followed instructions above and went to www.mdscom.com  and then Contact Us and then DoNotCallList.  Thanks for the great information, everyone.  Hope this works

I can't say for sure about this specific company, but in many cases using a website to "opt out" of further contact simply verifies that it's a functioning number and they will continue to hassle you.

Well, they are blocked on my phone anyway, so we'll see if the call attempts stop after using their web site.  If not, maybe I'll file an FCC complaint.  Sometimes I don't want to answer the phone when someone *I know* calls.

    Easily Annoyed
My caller ID reported this call as coming from  "Unknown name."  I picked up because it came in on call waiting.  Anyway, a polite sounding woman asked to speak to "Edward Garry."  I'm not Edward Garry. When I said, "You have the wrong number," she apologized and hung up.

The do not call registry will not work for charities.   They can call anyway - - as can any organizations with whom you have a pre-existing business relationship (for example, you can't block Citi if you have a Citi credit card).

The do not call registry is a bunch of HOOEY!
Panasonic offers several telephone applications with a call blocking feature, Once the annoying number is programmed, the call is zapped after the first ring.
It works extremely well and is worth every penny.
