Did a bit of digging - found this by googling Credit Bureau of Canada Collections scam.
I can't say if the call you or others here are legit or a scam. The fact is that there are crooks working a scam based on CBCC. I am bothered that this phone number does not readily trace to the CBCC. The safe way to go is call the CBCC. If you get a definitive answer, post back here to help others.

    Quote:
A "Credit Bureau of Canada Collections scam" refers to a situation where someone pretends to be from the Credit Bureau of Canada Collections agency to try and extort money from you by claiming you owe a debt, often using aggressive tactics, even if you don't actually owe them anything; this is considered a debt collection scam and should be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre if you suspect it's happening to you.

    Also from the web:

    Quote:
How to identify a Credit Bureau of Canada Collections scam:

       Verify the caller:
Always ask for the caller's name, company details, and contact information to verify if they are truly from Credit Bureau of Canada Collections.

    Check for unusual demands:
Be cautious if they demand immediate payment over the phone or ask for payment methods like wire transfers.
    Request written documentation:
Legitimate debt collectors will provide you with a written notice detailing the debt amount and collection agency information.

What to do if you suspect a scam:

       Do not provide personal information:
If you are suspicious, refuse to give out any personal details and hang up the phone.

Contact the Credit Bureau of Canada directly:
Reach out to the official Credit Bureau of Canada to verify if the debt is legitimate.
    Report the scam:
If you believe you've been targeted by a scam, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Collect cent confirmed me this phone number is legitimate and related to their offices. I called back their office in Montreal and found out why they were calling. Definitely not a scam.

I asked collect cent directly via the Montreal Branch number on their website.  They were trying to contact me to reach the guy who had my number before me. I don’t tell you to pay anything, just that you may want to call them back to be sure it’s not you they are looking for. Keep ignoring them I really don’t care I was just trying to help.
