Odd text message: Once the lock is removed, please call 877-836-3550 with Ref # (includes a ref #). That's as far as I got. There are two texts from this number but I deleted both without reading either text. Nothing that I know of is locked so this seems like a scam. Plus, I can't find this phone # anywhere.

Got a text saying to process application I have to call Experian at 888-397-3742 to unlock credit and once I do call 877-836-3550 with ref#2212148303568.

Received these 2 texts:
To process your application, please remove the lock on your bureau by calling Equifax at 888-298-0045
Once the lock is removed, please call 8778363550 with Ref # 2306298492673
No idea what tjis is about so will ignore

Received text about calling Experian to remove freeze on credit report to process application for CitiBank Credit Card.

Call came from 877-836-3550, website address given does not work, other number given to call for assistance no one answers

Never applied for a CitiBank Credit Card.

Called them five times, first time they answered as CitiBank, Second time they answered as Home Depot, 3rd time they hung up, fourth time they hung up, fifth time they answered as HomeDepot.

Text scam wanting me to remove freeze from credit report

Never applied for a Home Depot credit card.
Told me to remove credit freeze to continue processing application at a link I did not access.
Heavy Indian accent answered as Citibank.

Got 2 text saying to process your application for credit, please comfirn you applied by texting YES. if you did not apply for credit, please text NO or call 8778363550 with ref # .....

My social security number and personal information was recently stolen. The thief opened three store cards — the latest one was at Home Depot. I received a text notification to contact Citibank to call (877) 836-3550 with a reference number. The text came from 95686, Citibank’s auto msg Fraud Dept. I called them to inform them of my situation and since my credit is frozen, the application did not go through. I recommend freezing your credit with all three bureaus. If you need to apply for any new credit, you will be able to do a temporary UNfreeze to ensure it’s you authorizing any access to your credit and not some thief. Good luck and stay safe. 🙏
