- AzJust got a call too. What a joke.
- Caller: Barclay
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DougSame, obviously fraudulent call.
- Caller: barclay
- DanoI entered my Barclays MasterCard number and won a new house. This recording is the best thing that ever happened to me.
- Caller: Barclays MasterCard Inc.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- AZ_Dude replies to Another AZ| 1 replyI just got the same call, and did what you did, and made up 16 digits. Never got through, said; "I'm sorry that is not a valid card number. Please try again."
Total scam, imo. - PissedPunkGot the same call. Entered my Barclays card number and got the same results. Calling Barclays now to request a new card with a new number.
- Arizona replies to AZ_DudeI received a voicemail from this number earlier this afternoon - is was a cheesy outdated robotic voicemail that sounded like it came right out of the 80's. They were asking for a callback regarding my MasterCard credit-card - only problem is that I don't have a World MasterCard, ...based on other poster responses, I am chalking this up to a scam.
- DanoNo way. They're bringing my new house by tonight. They guaranteed it, even though it's generally against their corporate policy to do so. May sound too good to be true but they said they were backed by only the most elite Chinese and Nigerian businessman. Their card is a favorite among beautiful Russian women seeking American husbands, royal refugees and rich dying widows, so they also have tons of clout to back up their backup. Not only that, the representative on the phone promised to pull some strings and make it so I win the UK lottery. You people are suckers. So cynical.
- haroldTotal fraud, wants you to enter your credit card number and personal info. line went dead trying to reach a human, no longer in service. All card fraud divisions are human controlled and don't ask your info, they already have it.
- Caller: barclays
- scooterJust received the same call, looks like they're trying to scam the Big AZ tonight, don't fall for it!
- Caller: barclaycard
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Sharron replies to westazJust got the same call. Pressed 1, put in the info, told me to call back. Hit redial, tried again, same thing. Checked my Barclays account, no activity, but changed my pin#. Will contact customer service and report them to FCC as they called my cell phone.
Sharron in AZ - Milt AZJust the same story - Phoenix resident here - they called and it sounded pretty legit. High quality automated call voice - but once they asked for the 16 digit number of the card I knew it was a scam. It was calling my cell phone which also was very suspicious. Total Scam. Stay vigilant ARIZONA.
- Caller: Barclay World Bank
- JazzJust got a call from the number and they said I had fraud on a barclaycard master card which I do have. I kept trying to speak to a rep, but got the same recording.... I finally hung up and called the number on the back of my card and they said they would never ask for the whole number of your credit card. Total SCAM!!!! Please! Please! Please! Don't fall for the corrupt behavior of criminals who have nothing better to do then try to ruin your life to better line their pockets!!!
- yuyuyui AZI got the same message. I called the number twice and didn't give any information. After two calls the number didn't ring and just a recorder saying this was not a register number....
- another AZ personI received the same call BUT I was expecting a call because we had put through a large charge that morning. I called and when it asked for a pin number, I did not know it, so, I asked my husband to call from our home phone and he could not access the number. Since it was his card and his charge I told him to call customer service. They told him the call was not from Barclay.
We have received fraud division calls in the past and this sounded very similar so I was not inclined to ignore it. HOWEVER, the call came through on my cell phone. I do not give out that number much and am puzzled how it was obtained. I would be interested in knowing if the calls that others received were also on their cell phones. - mistaken niceness for STUPID!THINK AGAIN| 1 replythese dumb ass people think we have our heads up our own ass!Little do they know,we are smarter than them no matter where our head is at. LMAO! they thought they could out smart me w/their answers they could not answer at all. What bank are you calling from.the lady said,we are not w/a legitimate bank and could not give a bank name.that should tell you they are fake.any real representative from a real bank should be able to answer those simple questions before giving them your card number.besides they would not ask for a card number, but a bank account number.i will not give anybody my number on the phone like that.i can call the number on the back of my card and ask my self without giving them my card number.wrong kind of i.d. And at least when i call them,i know i am really talking to the bank and not a scam artist who thinks there is more stupid people than smart people.and your first clue would be when you dial the number and its disconnected.on top of it,they contacted my phone first.my husband is the first person they should have called before me and instead called mine.he never got a alert.hes on the account as well.that was a huge RED FLAG for us knowing it is not really the bank.WE THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX PEOPLE! gotta have more than a box of nails to out smart some! God is also watching us all and will watch over those who do right not wrong. Thank Goodness.........
- AZI received the same call yesterday, but called Barclays instead. The Barclays representative said that they had received quite a few calls about this over the past few days. When you enter your account # it then asks you to put in your pin. Once you do this the call ends and they have all of your information.
- AZCARDSLOVERI too received the same call. I do own a MC but it is with another company. I tried to call the number back today and it says this number is no longer in service. Do not give the automated voice any information. I am calling the AG office now to report this scam.
- Caller: MC for World account
- southazI got a message from them saying that my MasterCard account was being shut down until I could verify that it was my account, but seeing as I don't have a MasterCard, I looked up the number and did not call the number.
- Renee from ArizonaI got a message on my cell phone from this # 1-877-840-4874... I don't even have such a card as Barclays World, but I do have a Barnes & Noble MC through them.. so.... I tried to call just for laughs and the # has been disconnected as of 8/2/14.

- Cactus Flower replies to mistaken niceness for STUPID!THINK AGAINUnfortunately they ARE able to successfully dupe some people, that's why they try it. My 86 year old grandmother was almost duped into withdrawing $3000 from her bank account and taking it to a Walmart to send a wire transfer to someone she thought was her 45 year old grandson 'trapped' in a foreign country. Luckily the bank was closed! These are the people they are hoping to get.
