Just got a call today. I waited 20 seconds after saying hello hello, a recording kicked in, "this is American Agency... please call 877-866-8300..." I guess Penny got fired. lol

I wish I had Comcast phone service with free calling features, so I know who not to answer.

calling because i was listed as a contact for someone else upon matters they couldn't discuss with me.

THEY CALL AND I CAN HERE THEM IN THE BACK GROUNG TALKING TO SOMEONE. THEN WHEN I SAY HELLO THEY HANG UP....WTF?!!!!!!

I 've been receiving calls from 877-866-8300 for three years.   We told American Agency that the person they are trying to collect from is not at this number.
They were so desperate one day they had the local sheriff call our number to see if the person who owed the debt was at my number.  I was not intimidated and told the sheriff a collection agency has been calling us about another  person who owes them the debt.   Annoying scum bags!!!

Came back form vacation to several voicemails from this company.  American Agency.  Message asking to call back about a personal matter.

I have been getting calls at least once a day, sometimes more for the past three weeks.  I never answer b/c I do not recognize the number.  I knew it was a scam - who can we complain to?!?!?!/

I have no debts so I've tried to answer when they call but they hang up as soon as you answer--so there is no way to find out what they want.

Thay leave messges to call the "American Agency" but the number is just a recording.

GOt at call from this number today and said something like its not a sales call and callback at the number. Ofcourse it sounds like a scam

Says this is not a sales call, they are American Agency and to call them back...no idea who or why

I finally went to the Federal Trade Commission Call enforcement division at:

and filed out the online violation form.  I figure with our taxes we can have a federal government enforcement of unscrupulous business use of our phone system, which we pay for.

Unless you actually owe these people money, it is unlawful for them (under the TCPA) to call you with a prerecorded message.  Watson v. NCO Group, Inc., 462 F. Supp. 2d 641 (E.D. Pa. 2006).  Since they like to call their debtors' neighbors and others who they have no business relationship with, a large percentage of their calls are illegal.  They can be sued for $500 per violation, which is starting to add up to a lot of money for me.  Plus, we're not dealing with the brightest minds on the planet here, so they haven't covered their tracks very well.  Any lawyers interested in filing a class action?
