Ditto here. Especially frustrating as they called on my cell phone. I have a small minutes plan, and I don't intend to be wasting them on scam artists.

Calls from 877-944-9744: They always ask for 'Linda.' When pressed to discontinue calling my number, one call center operator went into a pitch about home air conditioning maintenance and replacement. The caller begins the pitch by asking personal questions about the home. Best response is to hang up. If someone calls here unprepared for a personal call, they get hung up on immediately. No, it does not stop the calls. No, the telephone provider will not help. No, using call trace will not help. No, having your phone number on the do not call list does not help. No, asking the operator to put a comment into the record to 'do not call' does not help. There is not fix for this. Just hang up at the first indication of a ruse call or nuisance call.

Do not answer personal questions from the call bank operator. Your number has been auto-dialed for the operator. Just hang up every time.

Perhaps we're dealing with some zoned-out meth addict sitting alone in some office sketching out his high with a telephone? Whoever this is, he/she/it bugs me too, and from what I'm reading in the above posts, this explanation seems to fit. So how do you deal with a druggie who gets off by making a nuisance of himself? Doesn't seem like there's much we can do except to keep on hanging up. Eventually the monster will self-destruct, which, of course, only creates a job opening for the next nuisance-of-the-moment.

They call all the time, nothing. Seems like our phone companies or government could do something about these sort of things, and yes I am talking loud in all caps!

Got called by this number twice this weekend, tried calling them back and got nothing. It would be nice if they would just stop calling. Does anyone know how long it takes for this number to just give up calling?!

I kept getting multiple calls with no one answering.  I called back and they answered, "This is Mary with Cross-Fire Marketing, and we have a special offer for you."  I told her MY special offer to her was to stop calling me or I was going to report her to the FCC, and to remove4 my number from her list!"  We'll see what happens.

In California and this number has called on several occasions.  Say "hello", "hello", but no response from the caller.  Do they know how to speak?  Who are these people???

They call to sell us newspaper service and we said no now they make several hang up calls a day to us.

I called back and the woman who answered said she was from Crossfire Marketing and called about the special they had going on for the holidays with Atlanta Journal Constitution (local newspaper). I politely stated that this was a cell phone and it was against the law to call my number. She was very apologetic and said she didnt know how my number got on her list but that she would remove it immediately. Added to have a good weekend and a great holiday.

crossfire marketing, get a skype account and call them back. you dont have to say anything, just call them back.

This number called me during church today.  Fortunately I had just put the phone on vibrate.  Anyone who calls me knows that we are in church on Sunday morning...except these crazy telemarketers.

They called twice to ask if we wanted to sell our timeshare.

When asked who was calling, was told "The Atlanta Journal".  Seems like this scam goes for a local newspaper to get your credit card #.  I'm contacting the Atlanta Journal to let them know.  Maybe they'll put a scam alert in the paper with this phone # listed.

Turned this number into phone company. 877-944-9744  Never speaks--just calls.

They called my cell number, and only silence at the other end.  I hung up only after several "hello's", as I know there an be a delay with computer-generated calling systems.  Thankfully they didn't call back, but I'm on the do not call list, and will be reporting them.

Annoying. I blocked them.
